Reporting to the Executive Director of Military & Veteran Development, the Prospect Development Analyst serves as the lead for prospect analysis and management, collaborating with colleagues in the Development Team as well as Program Leads and other leaders within the organization. The Prospect Development Analyst will utilize strong qualitative and quantitative skills to support our corporate, foundation and individual giving programs.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree.
Understanding of prospect analysis function and process and how they relate to and support fundraising strategy.
Experience in prospect identification preferred.
Ability to use a wide array of prospect analysis tools and databases, financial analysis for wealth assessment, products related to overall research analysis, and report writing systems.
Experience in higher education and/or in veteran serving organization highly preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
Experience contributing to an organizations fundraising strategy by making connections between the organizations mission, program and results and potential funding opportunities.
Organized and efficient, able to produce information at appropriate levels of detail and accuracy under sometimes tight deadlines.
Communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, to a variety of internal and external audiences.
Operate with a customer service orientation and have previously partnered with other development colleagues, Executive Team members, and senior leaders in support of fundraising strategies.
Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information and uphold the Donor Bill of Rights and other ethical standards in your work.
Strong investigative and analytical skills.
Demonstrated ability to analyze large data sets and synthesize data into useful and accessible information.
Advanced computer skills with demonstrated experience using Internet-based search engines, and an ability to work with relational databases.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs including Word and Excel.
Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and work within tight deadlines.
Strong problem identification and solving skills.
Responsibilities:
Research, analyze, interpret, and present biographical, professional, and financial information needed to facilitate the cultivation of corporate, foundation and individual prospects capable of making investments in the DAniello IVMFs mission.
Drive the identification, determination, analysis, and maintenance of relevant information on potential prospects including individuals, corporations, foundations and government agencies.
Leverage analytical skills to identify prospect connections to existing donors, board members and partners to map a path for introductions to the development and/or program teams.
Utilize a variety of investigative techniques and resources to prepare background reports, profiles, and other information.
Present appropriate materials in response to requests for information, including in-depth prospect profiles, summary information to support major solicitation and/or stewardship events.
Organize and maintain prospect records and files, including continuous maintenance of accurate databases.
Develop and maintain processes and criteria for mechanisms for managing investigative requests.
Collaborate closely with members of the Development Team and manage contributions to prospect analysis.
Engage with program leaders to understand their work, goals, and impact in order to support strategies for identifying new funders.
Actively participate in prospect strategy meetings to ensure the effective use of prospect analysis information.
Work and train with the Syracuse University prospect analysis team to stay up to date on the latest tools and software available.
