IAAO’s mission is to promote global excellence in property appraisal, assessment administration, and property tax policy, through innovative professional development, education, research, and technical assistance. Along with being the foremost authority on mass appraisal in the world and an indispensable resource for assessors, appraisers, and those involved in assessment administration, research, and technology, IAAO strives to be the “happy place” for our members and customers who provide valued services in their respective communities and jurisdictions.
Focused on growing value and engagement, IAAO seeks an initiative-taking, member/customer-centric leader who has a strong background growing membership and building a loyal customer base through exceptional experiences. The ideal candidate is a visionary team leader with the ability to execute actionable plans, which positively impact individuals and the industry. Innovative and creative, the ideal candidate should also possess high-level marketing and communications skills, along with demonstrable analytical and technical abilities, especially in association management and customer relationship management systems.
The Senior Director of Membership & Community Engagement is part of the executive team, reporting directly to the Executive Director. This salaried, exempt position leads IAAO’s Community Engagement pillar in our Association’s newly-approved strategic plan and oversees four dedicated FTEs.
Lead and oversee IAAO’s Community Engagement strategic plan, including:
o the creation and implementation of effective member recruitment and retention strategies and tactics
o taking a lead role in identifying and serving members, future members and customers with products and services that address their needs while enhancing association revenue
o evolving relationships from transactional to transformational experiences
Serve as a leader and coach for team members in the areas of membership and customer experiences, including meetings and events
Administer policies and procedures within the departments encompassing the Community Engagement pillar
Develop and manage the budget for areas associated with Community Engagement along with providing forecasts for related product and service lines
Generate and analyze data and statistical reports re: IAAO membership and customers, identifying trends as well as development opportunities
Understand member and customer processes while identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies, deliver better service, and greater ROI
Maintain a high-level of knowledge and understanding of IAAO’s products and services, advocating program value and availability with current members and customers as well as potential target markets
Develop innovative programs to attract and retain members
Create strategic plans to attract new members and customers, including underrepresented or underserved groups, building on IAAO’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Communicate effectively to ensure that all members are aware of membership benefits, programs, and services. Identify and leverage opportunities to communicate items of value to the membership and other targeted markets to strengthen relationships, provide support, and/or generate revenue.
Develop relationships with IAAO representatives, Chapter and Affiliate leaders through correspondence, retention programs, meetings, and other effective methodologies and tools
Implement strategies and tactics to grow and enhance relationships with IAAO Chapters and Affiliates, and increase dual membership (national and region/state/local)
Research opportunities to develop new Chapters and Affiliates, including international markets, and provide support in their formation and growth
Identify, represent, and/or coordinate staffing of trade shows, Chapter meetings, and Affiliate meetings
Liaison to committees, task forces or initiatives, as requested
