Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA
The Department of Acquisition, Finance, and Manpower (DAFM) at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) seeks applicants for a Lecturer to teach Accounting courses at the graduate level. The position is for in-residence and/or distance learning teaching on the NPS Monterey CA campus starting as early as October 2026. Teaching assignments will be on a quarterly basis, with academic quarters spanning 12 weeks. The position is not a full-time position; teaching assignments will be on an ad-hoc basis when full-time faculty are not available to fill requirements. Applicants must be US citizens, and have proven experience in teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.
NPS is an educational institution within the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD). It is located on the coast in Monterey, California, about 140 miles south of San Francisco. DAFM is one of the departments within NPS, which awards graduate degrees in sciences, engineering, national security, computer science, operations research, and management. Students include U.S. and international military officers from all services, as well as federal employees. DAFM has over 40 full-time faculty members, about 350 full-time resident students and approximately 200 part-time distance learning students. Minimum Qualifications for Lecturer, AD-03:
A graduate degree in a discipline that supports the departmental instructional needs;
evidence of teaching aptitude; and
expertise in the field applicable to the DoD
Minimum Qualifications for Senior Lecturer, AD-05:
A graduate degree in a discipline that supports the departmental instructional needs;
broad experience (typically 6 years) as a faculty member in accredited institution of higher education;
evidence of excellent teaching; and
a reputation for expertise in the discipline in the DoD.
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications. Therefore, provide only the attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
