Sponsored Programs is part of the Office of Research, a group dedicated to aiding the research community in navigating the lifecycle of their work, from finding funding to creating proposals to helping inventions find their way to the public. The Senior Research Administrator (SRA) for CARB-X will be responsible for the day-to-day management and support throughout the life cycle of CARB-X awards and agreements, including proposal review and submission, award review and negotiation, management and close-out. He/she will bring a significant amount of experience in support of a complex portfolio of funders, subcontractors and compliance challenges. Working closely with the Senior Special Projects Administrator and other senior resources within Sponsored Programs, will serve as a key contact for the largest award at Boston University. The SRA should have extensive knowledge of major federal funding regulations and protocols and have experience with foreign funding sources and complexities of co-funding and cost-sharing models. Participates in efforts to ensure Sponsored Programs and related offices work towards further streamlining and efficiency opportunities in support of this project. Essential Functions
Follows standard operating procedures established for pre-award tasks. Manages pre-award administration of granting mechanisms, including: reviewing solicitations and proactively addressing any issues/questions, reviewing completed applications, including proposed budgets, for accuracy and compliance with University and sponsor requirements. Review information related to cost-sharing commitments, sub award documentation and, to the extent required at the time of proposal submission, compliance information. Obtains authorized signatures and submits proposals electronically, or otherwise, according to sponsor requirements. Creatively and proactively evaluates and resolves problems. (30%)
Review, negotiate and accept awards. Reviews terms/conditions to ensure that award provisions are compatible with University policy, consistent with government-wide regulations for universities and correspond to proposed budgets, statements of work and deliverables and are contextually appropriate for the research involved. (35%)
Provide advice and guidance to the CARB-X team as needed during the proposal development process, particularly with regard to co-funding considerations. Participate in the programmatic monitoring of awards, working closely with the sponsor, PI, department, Post Award Financial Operations, and other research-related university offices throughout the life of a sponsored project. Ensure that the PI and other university offices submit the various reports specified in the award. Meet periodically with research faculty and administrators. Assist in development, implementation and communication of policies and practices. Actively participates in team meetings, system implementation efforts and on-going process improvement. (20%)

Required Skills
Bachelor's degree and 8+years required or Master's degree and 5+ years. Equivalent experience can substitute for a degree.
