Key Responsibilities:
Reduce Disease Risk: Use innovative surveillance and control techniques to assess and reduce the risk of disease outbreaks.
Develop and Implement Programs: Lead comprehensive disease- and pest-control initiatives to protect personnel and communities.
Provide Expert Guidance: Offer consultation and support during contingency operations, disaster relief, and humanitarian missions.
Conduct Pioneering Research: Study the physiology, taxonomy, and bionomics of medically important arthropods to combat diseases like malaria and Zika.
Instruct and Educate: Train both military and civilian personnel on disease prevention and pest management.
Innovate & Evaluate: Assist in research and development of new pesticides, equipment, and control techniques.

Must be a U.S. citizen currently practicing in the U.S.
Master’s or doctoral degree in entomology or closely related field in which your coursework had an emphasis on entomology
Graduate degree must be in-residence (i.e., not online) and must include a thesis
GPA of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale in graduate study and a 3.5 or higher in entomology coursework
Be willing to serve a minimum of three years of Active Duty
Be between the ages of 18 and 41 (age waivers are considered based on overall health and experience level)
Be in good physical condition and pass a full medical examination
Navy Entomologists are mission-critical, Force Health Protection specialists assigned to operational and medical research commands worldwide including Forward Deployable Preventative Medicine Units (FDPMU), Naval Medical Research commands, Navy Environmental and Preventative Medicine Units, and US Marine Corps Medical Battalions.
