JOB SUMMARY
John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital (JHSH) of Cook County is the flagship of the Cook County Health & Hospitals System. The Level 1 Trauma Center is one of the most respected in the nation. The hospital treats over 150,000 emergency room patients annually. It is home to more than 300 attending physicians along with more than 400 medical residents and fellows
A Non-Invasive Cardiologist performs duties which include clinical cardiology, echocardiography, stress testing as well as other non-invasive cardiac services, in the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County and the other Cook County Health and other Cook County Health and Hospital Systems (CCHHS) facilities (as assigned).
Typical Duties
Provides highly specialized outpatient/inpatient acute and chronic cardiac care.
Performs and integrates multilevel specialized cardiac tests and education aimed to improve the cardiac and overall health of patients.
Completes necessary procedures and surgeries.
Maintains and updates patient care records.
Provides call support for the Division of Cardiology.
Provides consultation services to other departments of the hospital.
Provides training for fellows, interns, and medical students.
Advises patient and family to promote understanding of test results, treatment options and procedures.
Coordinates and ensures implementation of treatment plans, tracks patient progress and provides fellow-up evaluations.
Examines and diagnoses patients and develops treatment plans.
Orders and interprets clinical tests.
Prescribes medication and obtains specialty consultation when necessary
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess an M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school or university
Valid license as a Physician in the State of Illinois or have the ability to obtain license prior to starting employment
Board Certified or Eligible for Board Certification in Cardiology from the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) prior to starting employment
Board Certified or Eligible by the National Board of Echocardiograph (NBE)
Successful completion of an ACGME accredited Cardiology Fellowship Program with COCATS Level II Echocardiography Training (with supporting letter prior to starting employment)
Preferred Qualifications
Bi-lingual – Spanish or Polish
Level III training in Echocardiography (with supporting letter prior to starting employment).
Level II or III training in Nuclear Cardiology (with supporting letter prior to starting employment).
Level II or III training in Cardiac Computed Tomography (with supporting letter prior to starting employment).
Level II or III training in Cardiac MRI (with supporting letter prior to starting employment).
Board Certification by the National Board of Echocardiograph (NBE).
Board Certification by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology (CBNC)
Board Certification by the Certification Board of Cardiac Computed Tomography (CBCCT)
