The School of Operations Research and Information Engineering at Cornell University invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track faculty position at Cornell Tech, a research and graduate education campus of Cornell University located on Roosevelt Island in New York City.
We welcome exceptional applicants in all research areas and at all levels of seniority. We are particularly interested in candidates with a broad interest in data-driven decisions, especially optimization and machine learning, both in theory and practice, and including AI-based applications. In keeping with the mission of Cornell Tech, applicants must also have a strong interest in activities that reach beyond academia for external engagement and impact, in areas that may include technology commercialization and entrepreneurship, or activities with non-profit organizations, government and policy issues, international programs, or pre-college (K-12) education. Applicants for senior positions should have a demonstrated track record of such external engagement.
Cornell ORIE is a diverse group of high-quality researchers and educators interested in probability, optimization, statistics, machine learning, simulation, game theory, and a wide array of applications such as health care, e-commerce, supply chains, scheduling, manufacturing, transportation systems, financial engineering, service systems and network science. We value mathematical and technical depth and innovation, and experience with applications and practice. Ideal candidates will have correspondingly broad training and interests.
Cornell Tech's academic environment encourages tight integration across disciplines in technology, business, law, and design, couples fundamental research with practice, and supports societal and commercial ventures alongside research and education. In addition to world-class academic research, a distinguishing characteristic of our work is that it engages deeply with external communities, organizations, and industry to address real-world problems and contexts that amplify the direct societal and commercial impact of our research. Hubs in Health Tech, Urban Tech, and Public Interest Tech exemplify this approach, bringing together researchers, practitioners and communities to collaborate.
Cornell University embraces diversity and seeks candidates who will contribute to a climate that supports students, faculty and staff of all identities and backgrounds. We strongly encourage individuals from underrepresented and/or marginalized identities to apply.
Diversity and Inclusion are a part of Cornell University's heritage. We are a recognized employer and educator valuing AA/EEO, Protected Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities.
