Founded in 1873, having celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2023, Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt), is the nation's first and only independent, free-standing public college of art and design in the country. Job Description:
Salary: $68,000-$75,000 commensurate with experience.
Collective Bargaining Agreement: This position is governed by the MSCA bargaining agreement

The 3D Arts department at Massachusetts College of Art and Design seeks an accomplished artist and educator working in the field of Fibers. This is a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. We seek someone whose dynamic pedagogical approach fosters an inclusive and vibrant learning community. To oversee and guide the program, this person must also demonstrate strong organizational, communication and leadership skills. The ideal candidate possesses both a breadth of technical fiber art skills and a deep understanding of the history and complexities of the medium as it intersects with contemporary art practice. We seek someone committed to bringing students into conversation around emergent questions of cultural and environmental sustainability within the broad arena of fibers practice. This position includes service to the community, college and/or department as defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
An MFA OR a Bachelor's Degree with a substantial record of achievement (5 or more years) and significant competency in the field of fibers
At least 3 years of professional teaching experience beyond their graduate studies
A consistent record of creative / professional practice
Demonstrated organizational, communication, and leadership experience
Clear potential or demonstrated ability to work effectively with and benefit a diverse student body across a variety of skill levels
Demonstrated ability to teach a range of traditional and alternative fibers processes including but not limited to: weaving, knitting, crochet, surface design (print and resist), sculptural approaches to fiber, dyeing, embellishment and embroidery, felting, basketry, fabric construction, and papermaking
Well-versed in fibers history and critical discourse
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years teaching at the college level
Clear potential or demonstrated ability to teach courses across 3D Arts
Demonstrated ability in developing curriculum
Extensive knowledge and demonstrated ability to teach weaving and natural dye processes
Capacity to connect fiber discourse to broader cultural, social, and environmental concerns
Proven capacity in working collaboratively, with an aptitude for cross-disciplinary and system-wide thinking.

Colleges of the Fenway is a collaborative effort of five neighboring Boston-based colleges in the Fenway area.
