The Opportunity:
The Gene and Linda Voiland School of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering (VSCEB) is hiring for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The VSCEB is recruiting for multiple ranks depending on the candidate's qualifications (please refer to the required and preferred qualifications section below). As the successful candidate you are expected to establish a dynamic, externally funded, nationally recognized research program, teach core and elective undergraduate and graduate courses in chemical engineering, mentor a diverse group of students, perform professional service, and publish scholarly work.
VSCEB is excited to welcome outstanding candidates working in experimental heterogeneous, homogeneous, or bioinspired catalysis who are eager to harness machine learning and artificial intelligence to tackle pressing challenges in energy, environment, bioeconomy, and health.
Preference will be given to candidates working in research areas that strengthen our existing research programs such as catalysis, CO2 capture, plastic recycling, computational catalysis and electrocatalysis. Successful candidates are expected to build collaborations within VSCEB and with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, other WSU departments, nationally and internationally.
Additional Information:
9-month Academic Salary (Commensurate with experience and qualifications):
Assistant Professor 9-month Academic Salary Range: $105,000 - $115,000
Associate Professor 9-month Academic Salary Range: $120,000 - $130,000
Full Professor 9-month Academic Salary Range: $140,000 - $150,000
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Required Qualifications:
Required Qualifications for All Candidates at All Ranks:
Ph.D. in chemical engineering or a closely related field prior to the start of the appointment.
Ability to teach core chemical engineering classes and commit to services and collaborate with diverse internal and external groups.
Have a demonstrated record of scholarly work.
Required Qualifications for Assistant Professor:
Have the potential to establish a strong, nationally recognized research program with extramural funding that complements and uniquely enhances existing programs within the school and Washington State University.
Required Qualifications for Associate/Full Professor:
Demonstrate a strong record of extramurally funded research that both complements and uniquely enhances existing programs within the school and Washington State University. At the Associate Professor level, candidates should have achieved national recognition; at the Full Professor level, international recognition is expected.

Experience serving as teaching assistants in Chemical Engineering courses and whose research combines machine learning with experimental work.
