Job Description:
Hours: This is a 10 month (44 week) position. 18.75 paid weekly office hours (lowered during on-call weeks) with an increase during major College events such as move in and opening days.
Salary: $15,468.64 annually/$18.25 per hour
Additional Compensation: Furnished 2 bedroom apartment, a meal plan during the semester, and internet access
General Statement of Duties:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life, the ARD is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the programming model and creating an inclusive first-year community, as well as assisting in the development, co-instruction and supervision of Resident Assistants in the residence hall environment. Principal duties include staff supervision, establishing a strong sense of community within the first-year hall, participation in the after-hours duty rotation and supporting departmental initiatives/programmatic efforts.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Provide leadership and support to the residence hall community.
Supervise, evaluate, schedule, and establish goals for paraprofessional RA staff in the building.
Assist in the development of an environment that supports and promotes opportunities for individual growth, respect for persons and property, and a sense of community living and shared responsibility.
Regularly interact with students through formal and informal contacts (i.e., office hours, attendance at campus activities and floor programs) with the goal of understanding the campus and residence hall communities and learning the names, strengths and concerns of resident students.
Act in an advising capacity and refers students to appropriate campus offices, services and resources.
Assists in coordination of programming efforts in the residence hall in accordance with established procedures.
Participate and present during fall and winter training for paraprofessional RA staff.
Provide on-call coverage as required during evening and weekend hours during the academic year.
Participate in Residence Life office functions (i.e. room selection, staff selection, etc.) and College functions as deemed necessary by the Assistant Director or Assistant Dean.
Participate in and assist in planning College-wide events (including but not limited to): Opening/closing of Residence Halls, Orientation, Accepted Students Day events, and Commencement.
Attend and participate in Residence Life and Housing weekly staff meetings.
Other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Director or Assistant Dean.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree is required. Past Residence Life and Housing experience is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience with issues of Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This is a part-time live-on position which requires weekend and after-hours work.
ADA accessible two-bedroom fully furnished apartment with a full kitchen.
A full College meal plan during the Academic Year.
Partners/families and pets allowed contingent upon successful background check and with approval of the Assistant Dean and Director of Housing and Residence Life and AVP/Dean of Students.
The position is a designated essential personnel staff position which means (absent of extreme circumstances) all scheduled work is to take place on-campus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 15 lbs.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This is a part-time (18.75 hours/week), live-in, contract position. The hourly rate is $18.25. Additional hours of work will be required during August/September and during closing.
If the ARD is not returning to the position in the fall semester, then their last day in housing will be June 15th.
