The Opportunity: As a Human Resource Consultant within HRS Medical Leaves and Accommodations, you will serve as a resource to employees and management regarding addressing a variety of leave and disability programs, including but not limited to Family and other Medical Leaves, Long Term Disability, Reasonable Accommodation, Shared Leave, and Workers' Compensation. You will apply your knowledge of state and federal employment laws and university policy to evaluate accommodation and leave requests, identify potential risks, and advise management on appropriate courses of action, and communicate with employees through a variety of mediums - in person, phone, and email. You will contribute to process improvement and system enhancements related to leave and accommodation programs, and collaborate with university stakeholders to ensure a consistent, inclusive, and legally compliant approach, including providing specialized and system wide training. Due to the sensitive nature of this work, you will be responsible for maintaining a confidential environment at all times. Level of position will be determined based on upon the finalist's experience and skills and the scope of work assigned to the position.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position located in Pullman, WA. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary:
HR Consultant 1: $4,093 to $5,501 | Range 47 (Steps A - M)
HR Consultant 2: $4,740 to $6,384 | Range 53 (Steps A - M)
Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications: HR Consultant 1:
A bachelor's degree with a focus on business, human resources, social or organizational behavioral sciences, or related field AND one year of professional human resource experience in any of the following areas: reasonable accommodation, workers' compensation, Family Medical Leave Act and other medical leave programs. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
HR Consultant 2:
A bachelor's degree with a focus on business, human resources, social or organizational behavioral sciences, or related field AND two years of professional human resource experience in any of the following areas: reasonable accommodation, workers' compensation, Family Medical Leave Act and other medical leave programs. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
