The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a full-time, ten-month Head Coach/Athletics Specialist in our Athletics department. The Head Coach is responsible for the development and management of the Men's Basketball program in compliance with the policies of MVCC and the NJCAA. This individual will be expected to demonstrate the ability to coach in a highly competitive intercollegiate athletic program in addition to a specified set of related athletic responsibilities.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
Recruits and retains a sufficient number of quality student athletes to the sport assigned on an annual basis;
Guides students with accomplishing their academic and athletic goals;
Ensures the safety and well-being of students by monitoring the receipt of the required physical exam, provide for proper conditioning and practice procedures, safe use of facilities, and proper supervision;
Complies with all institutional and departmental policies and procedures, Athletic Department Handbook and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) by-laws and eligibility rules;
Collaborates with institutional offices and staff;
Ensures student athletes understand the relationship between academics and athletics and the concept of student athlete;
Completes and submits all necessary institutional, departmental, and NJCAA paperwork and correspondence as required;
Communicates with the Dean of Athletics & Recreation regarding program goals and direction, to develop and adhere to intercollegiate athletic budget;
Assists with student intake advisement during high peak enrollment periods;
Supervises Assistant Coach(s) and approves relative payroll;
Faculty duties in accordance to Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor as applicable;
Other related duties related to this job description and as assigned by the Dean of Athletics & Recreation.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Minimum of two (2) years coaching experience
Valid driver license at the time of and duration of appointment
Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree
College coaching experience
