Summary of Duties:

The Farmer 2 ensures smooth operation of cheese making processes at the Creamery. Routine responsibilities include making cheese and all the jobs associated with that process from receiving milk into the cheese vat, to getting the cheese into its final package. This position may also help with the manufacture of ice cream. Conscientiously completing the required documentation of all steps of the process, and safely preparing the equipment for the next day's operation are also critical parts of the job. This position is also utilized to train student employees in these same tasks.

Additional Information:

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary: $2,961 to $3,910 | Range 33 Steps A - M | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

• Two years of experience in farm work or maintaining livestock; OR equivalent education/experience.
  
• Experience in food manufacturing work; OR equivalent education/experience.
  
• Must have or be able to obtain within fourteen (14) days of hire, a Washington State Food Handler's permit
  
• Must have or be able to obtain within thirty (30) days of hire, First Aid certification.
  
• Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
  
• Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed. This position often works into the evening and occasional Saturdays.
  
• Experience with office software, such as databases, spreadsheets, word processing.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understand basic sanitation.
  
• Experience in a dairy processing facility.
  
• Experience training others.
