The McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research at New York University is committed to creating new knowledge about the root causes of poverty, developing evidence-based interventions to address its consequences, and rapidly translating research findings into action through policy and best practices. One of the mission-driven projects of the McSilver Institute is the YouthACT Technical Assistance Center (YTAC), which provides training and technical assistance to Youth Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams across New York State. Youth ACT teams serve youth and families with significant mental health needs through a community-based service model.
YTAC plans, creates, and disseminates training initiatives to improve provider delivery of services to youth and families. This includes helping teams understand core Youth ACT principles and practices and general best practice areas. Examples include trauma- and resilience-informed care, motivational interviewing, engagement best practices, family-driven care, youth-guided care, vocational support, supervision, culturally-responsive services, and other core components of the model.
NYU McSilver is seeking to hire a motivated individual to serve as the full-time Senior Program Associate for YTAC. Under the supervision of the Director of Learning Design and Innovation, the individual will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day management and creation of training and technical assistance initiatives within YTAC.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Be a member of the YTAC resource team for Youth ACT teams.
Handle individual tasks and responsibilities for each project, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of work.
Support the day-to-day management of project operations to ensure execution of contract deliverables, including through organizing, facilitating, or participating in key meetings within YTAC and with leadership, other teams at McSilver, and other essential groups.
Liaise and communicate with relevant stakeholders to ensure project activities align with objectives and ensure that reporting requirements are met.
Provide coordination support through hosting online meetings, using event management systems, addressing external inquiries, and other activities as needed.
Assist in promoting the breadth and depth of training offerings.
Research helpful topics and coordinate with potential partners to develop training offerings.
Collaborate with team members to facilitate Youth ACT-specific consultation and implementation support calls and to develop training initiatives, tools, and self-learning courses based on internal and external feedback.
Attend state-wide training and meetings as needed.
Participate in regular supervision for support, performance evaluation, and professional development.
Engage in ongoing learning to continuously build a supportive knowledge base.
Travel offsite across the state as needed.
Qualifications include:
Master?s Degree in social work, psychology, or related field, with a minimum of 3 years experience managing major projects
Minimum three (3) years of practice or relevant experience in the area of youth and family mental health
Clinical licensure is strongly preferred
Experience working on an ACT Team or similar multidisciplinary, team- and community-based program preferred
Lived experience with a mental health condition, including overcoming related challenges within New York State, a plus
Experience working with state or local government entities is a plus
Ability to facilitate training and consultation calls
Strong computer skills and knowledge of common programs such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom, and other video conferencing platforms
Excellent research and writing skills
Detail-oriented and superior organizational skills, including effective ability to manage multiple projects
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to adapt under different situations and exercise stress tolerance skills
Ability to travel
Being comfortable working a hybrid work schedule
Knowledge and Skills include but are not limited to:
Strong ability to thoroughly conduct background research on a variety of topics related to mental health, poverty, and social determinants of health
General knowledge and interest in culturally-responsive, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed mental healthcare and youth mental health, including evidence-based practice, especially in New York State
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills individually and in a team setting
Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff, strategic partners, and the public
Openness to accepting and offering feedback that promotes respect and leads to individual and collective professional development
Ability to seek out and participate in opportunities for project development
Attentive to detail and able to meet deadlines
Strong affinity with the mission of the NYU McSilver Institute
This position is full-time and includes a generous benefits package. In compliance with NYC?s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $75,000- $85,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
Please note:
NYU McSilver is currently operating on a hybrid schedule of 3-days a week in-person.
This is a grant funded position with the opportunity for ongoing renewal reviewed on an annual basis.
This position is classified under the professional research staff category at NYU and does not qualify for visa sponsorship including STEM OPT extension.
