The Architecture Section of the Knowlton School at The Ohio State University invites applications for four (4) full-time Visiting Assistant Professor positions, beginning autumn 2025. These one-year appointments offer an opportunity for emerging and established scholars, designers, and practitioners to contribute to the schools interdisciplinary intellectual environment, which spans design, history and theory, and building science and technology.
We welcome applicants from diverse areas of expertise within and adjacent to architecture, including but not limited to architectural design, history and theory, building technology, computation, environmental performance, urbanism, and material systems. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research and teaching agendas will enhance the breadth and depth of the Knowlton Schools faculty and pedagogy.
Selected candidates will have the opportunity to teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, shaping curricula that align with their research interests and disciplinary strengths. Depending on the expertise of the selected candidates, teaching responsibilities may include design studios, history and theory courses, technology seminars, or other areas of interest to the candidate.

All courses are taught in person on the Universitys main campus in Columbus, Ohio.

A terminal degree in architecture or a closely related field.
A clear research or creative practice agenda with disciplinary recognition.
Teaching experience in either design studios or classroom-based courses at the undergraduate or graduate level.

Currently employed as an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at another institution.
