This position is responsible for developing and managing new and existing partnerships with key external organizations including advocacy organizations, political organizations, think tanks, and public policy groups in furtherance of T-Mobile’s core business goals, objectives, and priorities. This position is responsible for developing and managing advocacy outreach strategies for external engagement with third-party stakeholders and will serve as a point of principal interface with various advocacy organizations. This position will develop and manage outreach strategies and grassroots support for company-wide advocacy campaigns. This position will work cross-functionally with internal business and legal units to align and leverage key third party relationships for the benefit of the strategic objectives of the Government Affairs team and the overall business.
What you’ll do in your role.
Serves as the day-to-day external relationship manager for key policy groups, advocacy organizations, think tanks, public interest groups and NGOs.
Works within a dedicated external affairs team to develop and implement issues-based advocacy campaigns and support business development activities; develops proactive strategies to reach stakeholder groups in furtherance of Government Affairs policy priorities.
Represents T-Mobile at outside meetings, conventions, panel discussions and other events
Identifies and cultivates new strategic relationships with key consumer and policy-driven organizations.
Develops and maintains a strong network of partnerships with third-party public interest groups, industry associations, NGOs, and academics engaged in policy issues impacting the telecommunications industry.
Collaborates across Government Affairs and with other departments to identify needs, provide advice, and offer solutions support, where needed.
Monitors and analyzes developments in government policy that impact external relationships.
Prepares and updates fact sheets, research, business data points, and other documents to support advocacy activities with key stakeholder groups.
The experience you’ll bring.
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Policy, Political Science, Legal Studies or equivalent
7-10 years professional experience working with or inside civil rights organizations, think tanks, consumer interest groups, or other policy advocacy organizations in a government or public policy capacity.
Senior external affairs individual contributor or other equivalent leadership experience.
Telecommunications industry experience preferred
Strong Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), communication software tools (Canva) and the ability to quickly become proficient in new tools.
Strong project management or time management skills
Strong writing and communication skills
