Job Description: The Jao Lab in the Department of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University seeks an experienced and highly motivated postdoctoral scholar to join the team. The lab focuses on studying the principles of macromolecular assembly and transport. Current projects include understanding how the cell builds the centrosome, how the intracellular transport along microtubules is regulated, and how centrosome dysfunction leads to human diseases. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in zebrafish genetics, developmental biology, confocal imaging, and/or gene editing. Specifically, the postdoctoral scholar will use these skills to investigate how centrosome defects at the cellular level are translated into developmental anomalies at the organismal level. The individual will also develop new tools to study cellular processes at high spatiotemporal resolution in zebrafish embryos. The postdoctoral scholar will be mentored at developing a research program to provide the foundation for future independent research careers.
