Job Description: The Content Strategist plays a critical role on the content team. An exceptional writer, with the ability to make complex content digestible and relatable, they will create storytelling and strategic content for flagship digital channels and traditional print materials. They will work with internal/external thought leaders, students, staff, faculty and subject matter experts, as well as, multimedia creators, designers, and the digital team on assignments related to topics that ignite the imagination of our key audiences. These could take a variety of content forms (ex. feature articles, social media posts, data visualizations, videos). This individual will be adept at AP style, all forms of content (Ex. feature stories, campaign content, strategic digital/web content, email communications, social media content, brochures, news, etc.) and will be skillful in writing content that achieves desired outcomes. A creative thinker, they must be able to mine and identify stories from key partners across campus. This individual must be a strategic thinker who can navigate cross-functionally and represent the team in strategic planning meetings and projects. This will involve running point on project content strategy, assessing content needs and identifying messaging opportunities that map to the strategic vision.

Works closely with content team colleagues, school/college marketing teams and other business/academic units to mine for, source and identify, and evaluate content ideas/themes/topics that align with the University's strategic priorities, and to collect information and content assets. Collaborates with Marketing channel teams to evaluate and develop content ideas and plans.
In collaboration with Marketing channel teams, plans, creates, and produces content and storytelling that align with the University's strategic priorities and brand identity for distribution across priority digital channels/platforms such as syracuse.edu.
Collaborates with Marketing channel teams to plan, create, produce, update, and edit campaign materials for recruitment, advancement etc. and print publications such as the Syracuse University Magazine, undergraduate Viewbook, academic program guides, direct mail, etc.
Leverage business understanding and content skills when partnering with internal and external thought leaders and their teams to lead topic identification, research, planning and analysis with insights published and distributed in a variety of paid, owned and earned channels.
Provides counsel to Executive Director and Director of Content Strategy.
Collaborates on building best-in-class content marketing operation.
Stays up to date on industry trends.
Stay up to date with creative and storytelling trends to inform and enhance content development strategies.
Other duties as assigned.
