The City of Dublin is seeking candidates passionate about public service leadership to serve as the next Deputy City Manager (DCM). The DCM will play a critical role in overseeing day-to-day service delivery as part of a dynamic leadership team. This position serves as an organizational leader and strategic consultant to the City Manager, acting as a key designer, promoter, motivator, and catalyst for aligning culture and organizational values with a focus on high-quality service delivery in a growing city. The DCM will serve on the City Manager’s Executive Leadership team, which includes the City Manager, Chief Financial Officer, Police Chief, Economic Development Director, Community Planning and Development Director, and Communications & Marketing Director.
The DCM will assist the City Manager with overseeing daily administrative operations and key departments directly. In this role, the DCM will provide leadership, direction, and guidance to a team of professionals, technicians, and support staff engaged in the management and administration of these critical areas. Additionally, the DCM will be responsible for fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture within the organization, promoting continuous improvement, and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
Serving as an advisor to the City Manager, the DCM will also lead interdepartmental projects, prepare reports on policy issues, assist in developing legislation for City Council, and represent City operations to various official bodies and the general public.

Key responsibilities of the Deputy City Manager include the following: Assist the City Manager in the day-to-day and strategic operations of the City; Lead and manage projects and initiatives as the City Manager directs, contributing to our city's growth and development; Assist in supervising staff and departments, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment; Align City activities and initiatives with Council Visionary Goals and the Envision Dublin Community Plan; Facilitate communication and resource utilization among departments, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness; Support budgets, policy development, process management, labor relations, and public relations efforts; and Work closely with all City departments, citizens, businesses, and organizations, playing a vital role in building a thriving community.
Compensation and Benefits
The authorized salary range for this position is $149,000 – $199,200, and the salary will be determined depending on qualifications. The City provides an excellent benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, and deferred compensation, employee assistance program, short-term disability, and generous vacation, personal, and sick leave. Retirement benefits are provided through the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System.
Residency is not required for the Deputy City Manager.

Qualifications
Minimum requirements include a master’s degree in public or business administration or related field from an accredited college or university; ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in management and administration in a local government; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred qualifications include experience as an assistant/deputy, department head, or other key leadership position in an organization of comparable size and/or complexity with high customer expectations. A strong track record of strategic planning, project execution, community engagement, performance and data analytics, and labor experience is preferred.
