ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Works under the general direction of the assigned Director to provide medical treatment for ill and injured animals. Performs preventative veterinary care to maintain a healthy animal population and to create a healthy environment for animals located at the Memphis Animal Shelter. Participates in major operations and planning decisions in regard to animal care and health. Performs surgical sterilization on animals. Evaluates and corrects post-surgical complications. Provides surgical support for injuries in accordance with animal service policies. Provides daily evaluation of animals at the center. Performs daily evaluations of bite cases for rabies observation. Diagnoses and determines appropriate treatment plan for adoption returns and sick animal
