Brief Summary of Work for this Position: This position functions as the Strategic Leadership and Management role of the Department of Enterprise Systems Support.
The Director of Enterprise Systems Support provides leadership and direction in the design, review, development, deployment, recommendation and implementation of complex, mission critical enterprise software solutions, data warehouse development and reporting, university website, and security and compliance. The position is held accountable for strategic decisions recommended to the CIO that fall under the purview of this department. The director serves on the ITS Management Team as the primary officer representing the department of ESS.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Manages the implementation of multiple simultaneous campus-wide projects.
Data management and reporting.
Leads data security and compliance efforts through participation on Data Governance.
Conducts outreach initiatives to provide leadership in the deployment and support of academic-focused technologies.
Strategic decision making, implementation strategies, budget management, staff development, and timely deployment of upgrades.
Vendor Management
Project management - Assesses project requests, collaborates with campus constituents to determine university wide project priorities.
Manages and/or provides in-depth technical expertise for complex projects.
Leadership and Team Management.
Collaborates with campus community to encourages and promotes innovative IT solutions for both academic and administration needs.
Maintains an understanding of campus technology needs as well as a broad understanding of industry trends and best practices.
Business process improvement including policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services.
Interacts with senior executive management, various planning committees, and faculty at the direction of the CIO.
Serves on system wide committees and councils as an official representative of UNCW with regard to ERP management.
Resource Management:
Effectively manages human and financial resources to align with programmatic, strategic, and operational goals for each major function within ESS.
Strategic alignment of staff to accomplish departmental goals.
Researches training opportunities and requirements for departmental staff to maintain or attain required competency levels to meet the business needs of the department.
Completes performance evaluations and initiates discussions as necessary for improvement action plans.
Manages maintenance contracts for enterprise systems. Forecasts expansion budget requests to be presented to the CIO.
Maintains the fiscal integrity of ESS operating budgets.
Appraises completed projects with management team to ensure the quality and quantity of services performed by staff meets or exceeds the expectations of the campus.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
A Masters degree with at least 2 years of experience, or a Bachelors degree with at least 3 years of experience, or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.
Employee hiring, supervision, and talent development experience.
Knowledge of web application development technologies.
Familiarity with Identity and Access Management.
Data Management and reporting experience.
Project Management experience involving timelines, vendor relationships, and budgets to ensure projects are delivered with the highest quality and within specified time periods.
Experience with leadership and team management of staff, responsible for acquiring, implementing, maintaining, upgrading and supporting enterprise systems in a university environment.
Experience providing enterprise-level application support utilizing Oracle and/or SQL databases and Windows and Linux operating systems.
A degree in Computer Science or related field and 5 years of experience in the technology field, with at least five years of experience in management of technology staff in higher education.
Experience leading Banner/Colleague/PeopleAdmin operations, maintenance and upgrades.
Programming Experience.
Experience with ODS.
Experience with document imaging systems such as ImageNow.
Vendor Management experience.
Data Security and Compliance experience.
Business Process Improvement experience.
Single Sign On application experience.
Strong team focus.
Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative management team.
