The Department of Philosophy at The Ohio State University invites applications for the The Steve R. and Sarah E. O'Donnell Professorship in Philosophy, an endowed tenured position at the rank of associate professor or professor. We welcome a variety of approaches in philosophy. The appointed individual will conduct philosophical research, teach at all levels of the undergraduate and graduate philosophy curriculum, and participate in the cooperative administration of the department. This appointment will begin in Autumn 2024.
Area of Specialization: metaphysics and/or epistemology. We construe this broadly to include, among others, relevant subfields of: philosophies of gender, language, logic, math, mind, race, and science.

Education and Experience Requirements
Required: The successful applicant must have PhD in hand in Philosophy or a related field by the time of appointment. Teaching experience at the college level and a record of original peer-reviewed publications is required.
Desired: Candidates should demonstrate attentiveness to building a diverse intellectual community, in line with OSUs shared values (see below).

The philosophy department has 17 tenure-track faculty members. Our research strengths include the philosophy of logic, mathematics, and science, value theory, epistemology and philosophy of mind, and the history of philosophy.
