Provides leadership in the design and implementation of an innovative, comprehensive college student success and services strategy, which aligns with Macomb’s vision, mission and strategic priorities. Provides executive leadership for student services functions, including Admissions, K12 Relations, Records & Registration, Veteran & Military Services, Dean of Students, Counseling & Academic Advising, Career Services, Student Success Services, Athletics, and Student Life and Leadership. Reports directly to the President and serves as a member of the President’s Council.
Responsible for the overall direction and supervision of the student services functions including Enrollment Services (e.g. admissions & outreach, international student services, records & registration, veteran & military services) and Athletics, Student Success Services (e.g. dean of students/student conduct, behavioral intervention team, counseling, academic advising, special services/accommodations, special populations, career services/internships, student life & leadership), and Student Support Services (e.g. success coaches/navigators, Macomb Success Link). Responsible for budget and personnel allocations. Actively lead all student service areas, developing a vision for the area in collaboration with the President and President’s Council based on a thorough review of current conditions and future trends. Primary lead for student conduct and safety on campus in collaboration with College Police, including threat assessment and adherence to Clery Act, VAWA and Title IX regulatory requirements. Ensure ongoing student success efforts are coordinated across the college, collaborating with key constituencies, and implementing assessment plans to evaluate such efforts on an ongoing basis. Determine, plan, implement and administer initiatives that promote student success and retention, including a strong focus on at-risk students and programs like Achieving the Dream. Serve as institutional liaison to Achieving the Dream, compiling the annual reflection report in collaboration with institutional research and the learning unit. Serve as executive lead for Strategy 2 outlined in Strategic Plan 2025 focused on improving the student experience; Responsible for developing goals leading to greater success of the student population; “success” could include a greater number of degrees and certificates earned, an increase in student transfers to four-year institutions, etc. Institute innovative pilot projects in support of and to improve student persistence and retention goals, incorporating evaluation and assessment plans to determine scalability/success of the pilot. Primary lead for all student success partner and grant activities, including those with MCCA, CCRC, Ralph Wilson, Ballmer, AACC, etc. Primary lead for Guided Pathways initiative in collaboration with the learning unit. Serve as institutional delegate responsible for NJCAA oversight and signatory for student athlete letters of intent and other NJCAA related items. Serve on the IT Governance Council to prioritize institutional resources toward major IT initiatives. Stay informed of institutional accreditation requirements ensuring the necessary evidence and assessment plans are recorded on an ongoing basis in collaboration with the director of accreditation. In collaboration with other President’s Council members, develop a means to collect the appropriate data to ensure student success programs correlate with student and community needs. Ensure technology is aligned with institutional goals and emerging trends; use technology in strategic and tactical ways to increase student success and improve operational efficiency. Expand and maintain strategic partnerships with K12 educational institutions, 4-year colleges and universities, non-profit and community-based organizations, educational leaders and organizations, alumni, business, industry and community members. Executive leadership oversight of Macomb Community College Foundation funds assigned to student services and allocated to students in need through the Student Options for Success office Collaborate with President’s Council members on student issues that impact student services, financial services and academics. Ensure objectives and outcomes are met through evaluation, strategic planning and program/services development efforts. Build and maintain an environment of trust, respect, transparency, and collaboration with all union groups representing the employees of the college; understand and value shared governance and its role in student success, planning, problem solving and continuous quality improvement. Serve as an advisor for collective bargaining; Serve on community-based agency boards at the local or state level; Supports the Dean of Student Success in their role as Deputy Title IX Coordinator Other duties as assigned.
