The Academic Advisor and MP Coordinator at the WKU at Ft. Knox office plays an important role in our students' educational experiences through academic advisement of WKU students and connecting with prospective transfer students both on post and throughout the region. Advisors are effective in helping students understand the purpose of a university education, guiding students as they explore the expectations and demands of their chosen career path, and assisting students in initiating a plan in order to graduate.
WKU at Ft. Knox serves a diverse student group of active-duty military students, veterans, civilian Army and government employees, and their family members, including adult and online learners. This position is a member of the Regional Campuses advising team and collaborates closely with the Advising and Career Development Center to provide guidance, support, and encouragement for students at the WKU at Ft. Knox office and surrounding region.
As Coordinator of Military Programs, this position serves as the liaison between the Fort Knox US Army Educational Services officer and WKU. The position oversees the daily operations of the Ft. Knox office and classroom spaces, works with the Ft. Knox Education Services Center on higher education events and processes, and reports on WKU progress related to the WKU/US Army MOU.
This position plays a vital role as part of the Elizabethtown-Ft. Knox Regional Campus team in recruiting students and engaging with our community. WKU at Ft. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are customary for this position but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.
Serve in an advisory capacity for all WKU at Ft. Knox campus students (military, civilians, family members, and DoD employees), including assisting students in key stages of admission, registration, and degree planning steps
Serve as the point of contact to advise, format, and transcribe degree plans for all programs university-wide for all students using federal tuition assistance for the ArmyIgnitED portal, AI portal, and Navy portal
Work with military students assessing Joint Services Transcripts (JST), helping the advisee understand the WKU credit earned through military occupational experience and training
Participate in recruitment activities and initiatives, including coordinating WKU at Ft. Knox recruitment and community events
Collaborate with other postsecondary education partners developing collaborative recruitment and marketing initiatives
Serve as liaison between military personnel and WKU personnel, collaborating routinely with offices such as Admissions, Registrar, Graduate School, Military Student Services, and academic departments
Collaborate with various Military Army Continuing Education System (ACES) counselors and Vocational Rehab counselors and ensure WKU policies and procedures comply with ACES
Collects, maintains, and analyzes data related to military student recruitment, enrollment, course completion, and graduation
Ensure students' educational goals are within military TA guidelines
Review student communications within the ArmyIgnitED and Air Institute Education Portals
Supervises part-time staff
Supports students in test proctoring
Supports the Textbooks for Troops Program for students at Ft. Knox

Working knowledge of basic office software (word processing, email systems, spreadsheets, databases, etc.) and a comfort learning WKU systems
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
Demonstrated professional advising experience or equivalent in related field
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and be highly organized and adaptable
Strong presentation skills with the ability to relate to diverse audiences
Must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel to off-site location
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $35,600 - $38,000
