The Team : Index Governance (IG) oversees a variety of analytical committees that form the backbone of S&P DJI's governance structure. IG is a critical function responsible for index methodologies and index committee oversight including membership, structure, analytical rigor, culture, and adherence to policies and best practices.
IG Index Intelligence is a group of senior analytical professionals with dedicated subject-matter expertise who serve as analytical resources to index committees by working closely with committee chairpersons and others to enhance analytical aspects of index oversight. The analysts work closely under the supervision of the Directors and the Head of Index Intelligence to provide key intelligence to Index committees and assist their decision making.
Indexing is ascendant as clients and market stakeholders seek increasingly complex and nuanced benchmarks and a variety of index construction methods ranging from traditional industry classification systems to cutting edge themes using machine learning, artificial intelligence, and natural language processing to determine how AI tools and techniques should be applied to the index construction process.
The Senior Analyst, Thematic and Factors Index Intelligence will play an important role in the growth of S&P DJI's Thematic and Factors Indexing business. The role will play an important part in the Index Intelligence group in creating, delivering and maintaining a suite of analytics used to inform index committees and assure that indices are well designed, properly documented and continue to meet their objectives through time.

The analytical insights provided by the role will inform key committee decision-making relating to indices based on machine learning, artificial intelligence, and other cutting edge technologies. ??? The role provides the opportunity to work on cutting edge themes using machine learning, artificial intelligence, and natural language processing to support S&P DJI's efforts to provide global markets with leading thematic, factor and equity benchmarks.
Responsibilities: ??? Work closely with Equity and Data Science experts to build index analytics and reports for SPDJI's thematic and factor indices. ??? Perform data retrieval and conduct regular financial and statistical analysis on SPDJI's thematic and factor indices for a variety of internal and external audiences sometimes involving data cleansing tasks to enable calculation. ??? Support the subject matter experts in equity and data science during index consultations and methodology reviews by providing relevant and timely data retrieval and analysis. ??? Contributing to the designing of quality assurance processes for new and non-traditional datasets, data change reporting, annual data vendor reviews, and coordinating efforts to automate them with technology and data management teams. ??? Contributing to analytical reviews of new and non-traditional datasets proposed for use in S&P DJI's indices, and changes in the methodologies of existing datasets. ??? Collaborate and maintain relationships with cross-functional groups involved in the development, oversight, and management of the S&P DJI ESG indices lineup.
Basic Qualifications: ??? Undergraduate degree including coursework in finance, economics, data science or modelling, environmental science, mathematics and/or statistics. ??? Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, Matlab etc. ??? Knowledge of financial software such as FactSet, Capital IQ, Bloomberg etc. ??? Proven ability to manage projects with demanding timelines. ??? Working knowledge of company fundamental data.
Preferred Qualifications: ??? Demonstrated understanding of indices, index methodologies, conventional and cutting edge approaches to industry classification systems. ??? Graduate Degree in finance, economics, statistics or other quantitative discipline ??? CFA Charterholder or progress toward CFA Charter. ??? 3 to 5 years of quantitative research in the financial industry ??? An ability to contribute to the designing of end-user reports of various formats with an eye for creative approaches to visualizing data and present findings. ??? Experience in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and natural language processing technologies.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $110,000 to $135,000 Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
