Rider University's Department of Public Safety invites applications for three Public Safety Officers. The Public Safety Officer provides the university with excellent customer & community service assistance, protects life, and safeguards property through the maintenance of law and order by enforcing all rules and regulations governing Rider University. Patrols university property and buildings by foot, vehicle, and/or bike; responds to calls for assistance, medical calls, fire, burglary alarms, and emergencies and non-emergencies on campus; completes and files accurate reports.
This position requires flexibility with work schedule including but not limited to schedule changes, weekends, holidays, etc.
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of one-year law enforcement, security, military or firefighting experience or a Bachelor's degree in a related field
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must have, or be willing to obtain within one year of employment, CPR and First Aid certification
Demonstrated ability to work well with others and under both direct and indirect supervision
Excellent interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure
A high degree of dedication, honesty, and objectivity
Ability to meet and maintain physical requirements of the position
Ability to work flexible hours and scheduled and non-scheduled overtime
A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
