The program in Undergraduate Academics at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for adjunct faculty Writing Consultant positions in General Engineering, with a start date of September 1, 2022. Are you ready to give back? Do you want to make a difference? Do you want to help improve the communication skills of the next generation of engineers? We are seeking special faculty members who can advance our student's knowledge through your experience. You will be instructing students in the exciting first-year program in General Engineering at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering. EG 1003 Introduction to Engineering and Design is a multidisciplinary first-year engineering course that is required for all engineering majors at Tandon, which amounts to 350 students in each fall and spring semester. Sections for the course are typically made up of 15 students. Writing consultants can teach multiple sections, subject to availability.

Writing Consultant Job Description
Writing Consultants assist the lead instructor in recitation sections of EG 1003. Their role is primarily one of grading written material for the course and tutoring students in each of the sections. Their responsibility is fulfilled by grading, attendance at recitation, and training.
Qualifications
You should have one of the following:
Master’s degree in STEM, communication, or related field, or
Bachelor’s degree in STEM, communication, or related field with 10 or more years of relevant experience in STEM writing
You have strong technical communication skills. You have experience with public speaking and technical/scientific writing.
You are available to teach during the week in the mornings and/or early afternoons.
Preferred:
MS or PhD in engineering
You have industry experience and/or teaching in the areas of technical report writing, scientific literacy, and academic communication.
You have a documented record of university teaching in the specific area.

Additional Information
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the contact hour rate for this position is $149.25. This rate is based on the collective bargaining agreement with Local 7902.
