The Impact You'll Make in this Role As a 3M HIS Clinical Analyst, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. 3M HIS is an international leader in designing and maintaining healthcare payment systems. We support more than ten countries on how they budget and pay for inpatient and outpatient care. This role would appeal to persons interested in playing a vital role in the equitable financing of healthcare globally. Here, you will make an impact by:
Assuming the primary responsibility of Clinical Analyst in providing subject matter expertise in the clinical content development, specification, documentation, validation, and application of software modules related to International Refined Diagnosis Related Groups (IR-DRGs), as well responsibility of maintaining the specifications of the map and any related mapping for variables required for the methodology, holding to standards and best practices. This solution is used by throughout the world to budget, track, and pay for hospital inpatient and outpatient services.
Align the discipline of inpatient patient classification, procedure classification, inpatient payment, and regulatory update processes; demonstrating the underlying clinical concepts both in the US and international healthcare claim processing and payment policy
Work directly with the Chief Product Owner, Product Owners, Research team and government agencies to drive enhancements to the methodologies by reviewing proposed suggested changes, defining evaluation approach and specifications, review of results and proposal of recommendations towards updates to clinical APR-DRG logic that include clear clinical logic specifications using existing coding system definitions.
Work directly and collaborate with the technical, quality, and clinical team members, integrating product concepts to implement and test the clinical specification.
Responsible for maintaining process documentation for the IR-DRGs update using C&ER standards and methods.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
High School Diploma/GED (completed and verified prior to start) and eight (8) years of experience in healthcare
Five (5) years of experience in the healthcare industry
Four (4) years of clinical Informatics or healthcare coding/health information management credentials as it relates to research, analysis, disease processes and treatment, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
Three (3) year of working with patient classification/quality outcome measures and/or clinical coding
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Master's degree in related field, clinical informatics, coding, and/or HIM credentials from an accredited institution
Strong knowledge of patient classification research and development:
Inpatient payment and risk adjustment
Efficiency and mortality outcome measures
Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid environments
In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding skills
Experience with healthcare data, coding, billing, editing and payment, particularly for patient claims and HIPPA requirements
Experience with review and analysis of healthcare regulatory documentation both in the US and international healthcare claim processing and payment policy
Ability to evaluate research question, define analysis, analyze results and statistical output and patterns, document hypotheses and recommendations
Software development experience, bringing products from initial concept to release
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international.
