The Impact:
As a member of the Strategy Team for the Ratings Division of S&P Global, you will play an important role in shaping our strategy to ensure the continued growth of S&P Global Ratings in the financial markets.
You will engage with business and functional teams across the organization and gain exposure to all aspects of the strategy life cycle for S&P Global Ratings, including environmental scanning, strategy development, M&A and performance measurement.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and Analysis
- Undertake trend, industry, competitor, and other research to inform a view of our current and future operating environment
- Contribute to the design and implementation of strategy frameworks and execution of strategic analysis to identify and prioritize opportunities for growth, including for markets and products.
- Participate in qualitative and quantitative analyses for corporate development, including acquisitions, joint ventures and alliance partnerships
- Provide analytical support for the development of business/investment cases for strategic investments
Strategic Planning and Communication
- Participate and contribute to all aspects of the end-to-end strategic planning process, including environmental scanning, development of strategic options, prioritization and goal setting, and alignment across the organization, including with technology, data and resource management processes.
- Contribute to the design and facilitation of strategy workshops and other strategy gatherings
- Develop materials to communicate strategy topics to a wide variety of audiences, including town halls and senior executive meetings (e.g., Board Meetings, Executive Offsites, etc.)
Governance and Performance Measurement
- Facilitate structured reviews of the enterprise portfolio of strategic initiatives
- Contribute to the development, tracking and reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess progress towards strategic and operational goals.
What We're Looking For:
Skills
- Strong critical thinker comfortable with both quantitative and qualitative analysis; ability to aggregate data from disparate sources, and leverage and analyze data to derive insights to support decisions
- Outstanding presentation and storytelling skills in Powerpoint, including keen ability to synthesize complex information and turn it into a compelling narrative and impactful visuals
- Strong Excel skills, including experience with financial modelling / valuation for both organic growth and M&A transactions
- Creativity and intellectual curiosity, including ability to dig into a problem, suggest additional analysis and/or new paradigms for framing new alternative solutions
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects / competing priorities
- Collaborative work style with ability to effectively partner with and earn the trust of colleagues at all levels of the organization, including when working on sensitive matters
- A self-starter with a keen sense ownership and commitment to the work, and a passion to deliver results
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree in related discipline (or equivalent experience) strongly preferred
- 5+ years of experience, including 2+ years in management consulting, investment banking or corporate strategy role.
- Financial industry experience preferred; understanding of debt capital markets / credit experience and/or willingness to learn
- Foundational understanding of transformational trends shaping the future of financial markets
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $91,600 to $190,000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
