The Impact You'll Make in this Role
As a Manager of Software Engineering for the 360 Encompass Platform, you'll supervise one or more teams of software engineers who define, develop, and support software products and services built using multiple technologies. You'll work with Product Owners to create the plan to build the products and services that each team delivers. You'll use various Agile and SCRUM metrics to shape the outcomes of the development cycle and to produce valuable products for hospitals and other healthcare providers.

The 360 Encompass Platform is a large suite of software products covering multiple hospital needs in a value-based care environment. Those needs range from improving the efficiency of medical records coding and grouping to improving patient treatment using extensive healthcare analytics to define best practices.

Here, you will make an impact by:

• Lead one or more teams of software engineers and other technical staff in the design and development of modern products, services, and platforms across multiple technologies.
• Provide direct supervision and feedback to employees through daily leadership, hiring, coaching, training, and formal written performance reviews.
• Create an atmosphere of innovation, embracing modern R&D cultures and enabling professional growth for the team members.
• Set long term team objectives and provide Agile coaching and technical advice as appropriate.
• Champion agile development principles across the technical and business organizations.
• Help remove technical impediments which arise.
• Increase your knowledge of the healthcare industry via working on products for customers.
• Understand corporate/location policies and procedures and take appropriate action to address policy related issues.
• Participate in a leadership capacity on cross-functional teams, delivering on critical programs such as new technology introductions and new product introductions alongside other technology leaders and business leaders.
• May work with external vendor contracting and resources.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

OR

• High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) and fourteen (14) years of experience in software development

• Ten (10) years software development experience including three (3) years of leadership experience (manager, supervisor, team lead, product owner, SCRUM Master)

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Graduate degree in Computer Science or a related discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited university
• Demonstrated ability to direct and influence others.
• Experience using backlog management and issue tracking platforms such as Jira or TFS.
• Solid technical understanding of security and privacy, especially in healthcare.
• Professional enterprise software development experience writing code in an object-oriented programming language (i.e. Java, C++, C#)
• Experience with automation, infrastructure as code, continuous integration, continuous delivery, monitoring, alerting and incident response.
• Experience with testing tools and frameworks.
• Certifications in public cloud services such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
• Experience leading teams using modern cloud architectures and designs including virtualization, SOA, microservices, serverless and containers.
• Experience managing department finances and budgets.
• Experience working with external technology partners and workforce providers.
