This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Operations and Student Services and supports the administrative functions within Enrollment Management, specifically the Financial Aid area and assisting with undergraduate and graduate admissions when needed. Enrollment Operations and Student Services supports operational and processing effectiveness for the entire enrollment division. This employee will be expected to perform a number of vital roles based on the financial aid, undergraduate, and graduate admission cycle. Tasks will include, but are not limited to, assisting incoming and current students and families with financial aid-specific questions, applications, required documents, and generic financial aid information, coordinating enrollment efforts with departments and schools and participating in enrollment events across campus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists current and incoming students and families understand the financial aid process and procedures, such as completing financial aid applications, required document, entrance and exit counseling, and parent plus loan applications. Help Law and Graduate students determine how much they can borrow between Direct and Graduate Plus Loans.
Provides assistance with related tasks for undergraduate admissions, graduate admissions, and financial aid during peak seasons of the cycle.
Reviews student eligibility and aid awards with current and incoming students and families; identify issues that prevent aid disbursement; trouble shoots issues; explains student accounts. Builds relationships with current and incoming students, answer questions and bring financial aid and admission applications to completion. Provides status updates to prospective students, parents and high school guidance counselors.
Participates in student-centered events across campus, such as FAST and orientation, and on-campus enrollment events, such as Duq Days, group information sessions, and enrollment virtual events.
Performs responsible public relations duties through contacts and associations with visitors, university officials and the general public.
When necessary, perform back-up responsibilities for designated financial aid counterparts, including, but not limited to, loan processing, federal reconciliation, and financial aid services. Support operational and processing effectiveness for the entire enrollment division (UG admissions, Graduate Enrollment Services, Financial Aid, Enrollment Marketing and Communications, Military and Veterans, and Guest Services).
Performs other related duties as assigned to support the functions of a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
1-3 years of relevant work experience.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Strong understanding of Financial Aid processed, procedures, and policies.
Highly developed interpersonal, analytic, problem-solving, organizational and communication skills, including the ability to listen thoughtfully and respectfully to a diverse population of constituents and stakeholders.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written providing the ability to effectively communicate with multiple internal and external constituents.
Attention to detail and accuracy while multi-tasking.
Strong organization skills.
Knowledge and understanding of federal, states and agency-accrediting rules and regulations as they pertain to higher education admission.
Functional knowledge of CRM and FAMS system (Slate/Banner/Ellucian preferred).
A broad understanding of higher education processes and procedures, including shared governance, strategic planning, resource allocation and budget management.
Ensures compliance with Federal and State laws pertaining to financial aid, affirmative action and FERPA.
Proficiency with PC, Microsoft Office tools, email and the Internet with the ability to learn a variety of new technology systems; knowledge of COD, NSLDS, EDconnect, and CPS.
Sensitivity to the need of each individual to be treated with dignity and respect as it relates to diversity in general and the Mission of the University specifically.
Ability to prepare and maintain confidential data independently in accordance with established policies and procedures and exercise consistent discretion.
Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations and policies governing the operations of the University.
Ability to create and maintain complex records and files.
Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends as needed during peak enrollment periods.
