Stanford University has an immediate opening for a full-time Assistant Director in the Office of Student Engagement (OSE), an energetic office that supports student organization-produced programs and events and is characterized by frequent student drop-ins seeking help and advice. This position is integral to creating a welcoming and helpful space for the students we serve and ensures that all key support systems for Stanford student organizations are managed efficiently, promptly and with a strong student-orientation, educational and learning focus.

We are situated within the Associate Vice Provost for Inclusion, Community and Integrative Learning along with the Centers for Equity, Community and Leadership, BEAM Career Education, First Generation and/or Low Income Office, Office of Military- Affiliated Communities and the Office for Inclusion, Belonging and Intergroup Communications (IBIC).
The Office of Student Engagement is responsible for advising all recognized student organizations totaling upwards of 650 student organizations, including student government, club sports, fraternities and sororities, ethnic and cultural and performing arts groups.

In this role, you will:
Serve as the University advisor for various student organizations on leadership develop, event management and financial planning in order to ensure that student-led events are successful.
Manage student staff hired in office who assist with drop-in advising. Develop curriculum and learning outcomes in order to ensure experience is high quality and transferable.
Manage the student organization annual registration and recognition process: review and approve all student organization registration updates, verify details of student leader information, including student status and organization constitutions.
Advise and manage large scale and high-profile/high-risk events and activities.
Collaborate and work closely with various university partners/stakeholders such as the Centers for Equity, Community and Leadership, the Haas Center for Public Service, the Office of Religious Life, Athletics, and other University departments in support of student organizations.
Facilitate trainings, workshops and other programs for the broad learning and engagement of student leaders
Advise manager on experiences and understanding of risk management best practices, legal implications, Title IX concerns, and conduct issues as they relate to student organizations.
Collaborate with the office of development and manage student allocations from alumni for student organizations.
Develop marketing materials and strategies for program activities and outreach functions, including social media and communications. Maintain accuracy and usefulness of the website, updating and editing content, routinely.
Collect and analyze data from multiple sources including student feedback, surveys, trend reports, and data analytics. Prepare and summarize reports and make recommendations to enhance offerings, such as programs and courses and to influence current processes and policies.
Develop, analyze, influence and review policies, processes and programs by incorporating feedback and trend data learned from advising students and building relationships with colleagues. Advise manager and team on policy updates, advising protocol, and provide recommendations for implementation of changes.
Initiate processes for identifying trends and performing needs analysis. Advance unit's participation in the implementation and testing of new technology.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
A bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience. Master's degree in higher education, counseling or student affairs preferred.
Ability to develop strong relationships with students and other constituents in a warm and professional manner
Creativity, resourcefulness, initiative, discernment, and a high degree of motivation is required
Understanding of leadership development theories and training
Knowledge and embodiment of diversity and inclusion best practices. Ability to work collaboratively with individuals and groups from various identities, cultures, and backgrounds
Willingness to take on new challenges in a dynamic and changing environment and work gracefully under pressure
Strong communication skills to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences, client groups, and management
Advanced analysis and problem-solving skills
Advanced computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Box, and Google Drive;
Advanced customer service skills
Relevant computer systems/technology experience
Understanding of financial transactions
Ability to ensure and apply compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.
In addition, preferred requirements include:
Excellent organizational skills including an ability to oversee a wide variety of activities, to define pitfalls, to propose and implement effective solutions, while being able to set and re-adjust often competing priorities.
High level of energy, flexibility, and the ability to work independently.
Student development knowledge and experience in student affairs.
Able to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
