The Assistant Dean, Community Engagement and Business Development oversees the management of GPS Executive Education Program, Marketing, Communications, events and community outreach. Serves as a member of the GPS leadership team. Works in partnership with the Dean and leadership team to spearhead strategic initiatives, establish metrics, drive strategic decision-making and ensure results. Designs a comprehensive set of strategic approaches aimed at external and internal public relations and marketing opportunities for GPS units, including centers.
In collaboration with the GPS leadership team, formulates and implements the executive education and study abroad programs' strategic direction and business plan. Develops and implements a comprehensive communications program for GPS that includes media coverage, the promotion of the School's identity via various publications, web publications (external and internal), targeted newsletters, and brochures. Leads efforts to identify and address executive education needs in the marketplace (including critical training and educational issues) and implements innovative approaches and solutions that align with the school's needs and strategies.
Advanced degree in international affairs, public policy, marketing or education, or eight to ten (8 - 10) years of experience in executive education; or a comparable combination of education and work experience.
Established network with leaders in academia, government, military and private sector.
Strong knowledge of leadership and management principles, theory, concepts and practices, and the ability to apply to curriculum, program, project and organizational development.
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in creating a climate of trust and respect and in aligning strategic initiatives and operational goals with the mission, values and business needs of the organization.
Superior knowledge of the theories, principles and trends related to international affairs education and curriculum development for degree and non-degree programs.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills with individuals and groups and demonstrated ability to interface and communicate effectively with all levels, including with campus and system-wide senior management, and constituencies.
Knowledge and demonstrated strength in developing and presenting complex marketing plans for higher education involving international markets.
Strong experience managing resources, budgets, sales projections and accurately estimating program costs and revenue. Experience budgeting expenses; projecting revenue streams; meeting or exceeding profit goals.
Proven advanced analytical and statistical skills to evaluate information, procedures or situations to define a problem or objective, identify relevant concerns, recognize alternatives, formulate logical and objective conclusions, and prepare reports.
Strong experience managing staff, projects and departmental budgets. Superior judgment, interpersonal communication, leadership, writing and analytical skills. Strong supervisory skills to effectively train and guide staff at all levels, delegate tasks, set performance standards and evaluate performance. Ability to motivate staff and foster a cooperative working environment.
Demonstrated administration and management ability within a university environment. Experience in goal setting and attainment and leading and motivating a team of staff and instructors.
Excellent knowledge of and experience in software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, email programs and various internet browsers.
Academic background and experience in selected area of research.
Advanced knowledge of administrative, budgetary, human resources and financial principles and practices.
Advanced oral and written communication skills.
Ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers.
