Monday to Thursday, 2:00pm to 10:00pm, Fridays 4:00pm to 8:00pm
The Library Assistant – Patron Services provides all patrons of the library with directional information to navigate within the library. There is a special emphasis on serving all constituencies with Patron Services functions. The Library Assistant in this position is proficient in circulation activities, familiarity with utilizing and navigating the Alma Library System as well as the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with undergraduates, graduate and doctoral student and faculty and employees of Molloy College. Able to work independently and as part of a team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist patrons in answering or directing questions pertaining to materials both within and outside of the library
Prepare library to open and/or close to provide access to the library services.
Guide patrons in use of scanners/microfiche/microform/VHS/DVD and self-check kiosk equipment
Utilize Integrated Library System (ILS) by:
Verify patron information
Charge and discharge library materials
Place hold on patron account in conjunction with the Registrar’s office
Reserves desk coverage during Fall and Spring semesters and other activities during intersession, breaks and summer
Deslection projects and associated steps
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Communication. Education, English or Humanities
1 - 3 years' of experience
Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Voyager ILS or another ILS - (preferred)
Assigned Lead (students); May recommend the following: employee hiring; disciplinary action and input on performance evaluations.
