The City of Palm Springs is seeking a high-energy and progressive local government professional to serve as Assistant City Manager (ACM). Under direction of the City Manager, the ACM will be an excellent communicator, innovative and resourceful project manager, and, importantly, a collaborative team member. As a full-service municipality, serving a diverse and dynamic population, this top professional will be a well-rounded generalist, eager to participate and actively engage in all aspects of the organization and internal operations, knowing that resources of people and funding are often limited. With a focus on expanded and enhanced communications across the organization, the ACM will often be called upon to provide information data, and assistance to internal and external customers on a wide array of important and vital issues.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of increasingly responsible administrative experience, preferably but not exclusively in municipal government which provided a strong understanding of city-wide operations and the role of local government, preferably in an advanced management position, which included 3 years of direct management of a department, division, or reporting relationship to the City Manager's Office. A Master's degree in public administration or a closely related field is desirable.
Additional Salary Information: The annual salary for this position is $177,216 to $237,780 plus an additional 5% for Master’s Degree DOQ. The City also offers an attractive benefits package including CalPERS retirement.
