The Impact You'll Make in this Role
The person hired for the position of Manufacturing Engineering will be responsible for initiating and conducting defined technical tasks usually associated with Process and Product Understanding within a coating and converting manufacturing environment. This person will report to the Value Stream Manager but work direction may come from other sources including cross-functional teams.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Leads, Identifies, recommends, initiates, and implements green belt projects or programs in manufacturing area of responsibility to improve and/or enhance: 1) product cost, service, and quality, and 2) process safety and health/environmental impact. Demonstrates proven project management skills to complete projects on schedule.
Initiates and completes technical activities leading to new or improved products or processes which have significant impact potential. Maintains awareness of scientific/product opportunities and takes initiative to suggest/test ideas. Suggests changes or future direction as needed. Develops extensive knowledge of statistical techniques for monitoring and improving manufacturing processes. Improves upon these skills through regular participation in appropriate activities.
Demonstrates proven project management skills to complete projects on schedule. Participates in project planning including design reviews and timelines with plant management and all stake holders.
Establishes and cultivates a network of support (laboratory, quality, manufacturing, engineering, sales, and marketing) to facilitate completion of assignments.
Identifies and implements a comprehensive education plan to continually advance technical skills and personal development as well as enhancing organizational effectiveness. Establishes self as a resource within immediate work group.

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Three (3) years of combined experience operations, materials control/logistics/supply chain, quality control, extended equipment value stream in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related discipline from an accredited University
Experience in solvent based pressure sensitive adhesive tape converting preferred. Proven track record of greenbelt project completion and delivering LSS savings. Develops knowledge of money management issues and understands the relationship between managing manufacturing project budgets and the corresponding financial impact on assigned business unit.
Applies good logic and reasoning when deviating from standard techniques and practices to solve problems.
Skills include MS Excel, Power Point, AutoCAD or Solid Works
Travel: May include up to 5% domestic
