These positions are anticipated to start in May or June, and will last through the 2021-2022 school year or just the summer, depending on the candidate's school schedule and our business needs. DIRECTOR's OFFICE FBOD Division Graduate Intern Learning Objectives Communications: - Create and update our division-wide communications using SharePoint, Constant Contact, and other publishing tools.
- Communicate success stories around our Equity and Social Justice Work, Employee Engagement, Lean Initiative and process improvements, as well as update Director's Office Visual Board.
Equity & Social Justice (ESJ): - Support end-to-end planning of training, marketing, and reporting in alignment with our Division's ESJ Action Plan and King County’s Strategic Plan.
- Track and visualize program performance and metrics for end-of-year report out to division and department.
Special Projects: - Support Division leadership by working on cross-functional projects including legislation, policy updates, employee engagement, Lean, and other general administrative functions as needed
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & CONTRACT COMPLIANCE BDCC Graduate Intern Learning Objectives - Maintain tangible and electronic records and files.
- Receive, label, log, file and retrieve financial, and/or fiscal data.
- Collect and/or analyze financial, accounting and/or fiscal documents such as personal net worth statements, tax records, revenue, profit /loss statements, etc.
- Create correspondence to obtain any missing or supplemental information needed from a small business for certification.
- Use online resources to confirm business information such as business licenses, property values, ownership status, NAICS codes, etc.
- Conduct outreach to businesses for small business certification, upcoming events, or information on King County procurements.
- Respond to inquiries and/or refer customers to appropriate agencies or departments/divisions. Provide information from established policies, procedures, and other relevant sources to internal and/or external customers. Distribute incoming documents and process outgoing correspondence. Be comfortable in managing sensitive and/or potentially volatile situations.
- Maintain statistics and metrics to support continuous process improvements.
Undergraduate Intern Learning Objectives - Perform routine system administration, maintenance, and documentation. Participate in audit preparation, and maintenance of data integrity. Track, troubleshoot and resolve system problems and issues of limited scope following established guidelines and standard work and procedures. Participate in gathering data and preparing analysis.
- Participate in preparing in researching requirements and maintaining tables and records.
- Update standard work processes and operating procedures.
- Communicate routinely with customers; provide information and assistance on routine questions involving system processes and procedures to navigate an online reporting database.
- Update standard queries following established procedures. Develop routine reports; document tables and data used in the preparation of reports and queries.
- Participate in process improvement as a team member in support of reporting systems, work in partnership with experienced functional analysts in testing system interfaces and enhancements.
PROCUREMENT & PAYABLES Procurement & Payables Undergraduate Interns Learning Objectives (2) The Procurement & Payable Interns will support the development & deployment of Category Management and Strategic Sourcing for key commodities, act as a specialist supporting King County initiatives for Harborview, & assist King County in achieving its Equity & Social Justice goals. Examples of tasks include: researching market trends to identify innovative commodity solutions, enable leadership decision making using data analytics, support key activities for the implementation of Category Management & Strategic Sourcing, engage with stakeholders to develop contracting requirements & place Purchase Orders with suppliers, and provide general contracting support. - Exercise skills in communication, collaboration, research, development & implementation, & will become familiar with the structure & organization of King County government
- Develop & strengthen project/program management skills to support Category Management & Strategic Sourcing initiatives
- Gain experience in strategy development & implementation, relationship management with stakeholders, contracting, & working on project teams
- Build a background in Supply Chain best practices, innovations, standard, & processes
- Support the execution of King County’s Equity & Social Justice goals
- Assist in the development of standard tools, processes, & requirements

- Support the end-to-end procurement life cycle from receipt of service request, develop Request for Proposal, Quotes, & Information, review requirements & Statement of Work for quality, organizing sourcing competitions, & supporting contract execution.

TREASURY OPERATIONS Treasury Undergraduate Intern - Learning Objectives We are looking for an intern who can work independently, who loves data, digging into numbers, and making recommendations based on your analysis. Experience with lean projects and customer service is a huge plus! - Pull reports from inContact (customer service database)
- Use graphs and infographics to visualize data
- Structure large data sets to find usable information
- Create reports for our A3 Project for process improvement
- Collaborate with team members to collect and analyze data
- Cataloging and data accounting
Qualifications - Advanced Excel skills
- Reporting and data visualization skills using software like PowerBi
- Analytic and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of data gathering, cleaning and transforming techniques

Other Position Information: These positions are overtime-eligible. Our employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, normally between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. These internships will be working from 20 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week, depending on assignment area and school schedule. These positions are not represented by a union.
