Overview Enterprise Functions Technology has embarked on an ambitious Risk Transformation program and as part of that we are looking for a Principal Engineer who will be part of a team that is responsible for developing and supporting enterprise platforms in the Financial Crimes area of Compliance.
A strong forward thinking technical solutions architect with experience in implementing integrated solutions is required to help create a integrated architecture that leverages industry best practices and new technologies such as AI/ML and recommends innovations that enhance operations and/or provide a competitive advantage across all areas of Financial Crimes including Transaction Monitoring, Sanctions Screening,Investigations, and KYC. You'll be part of a technical team delivering on enterprise wide projects through all phases of the system development life cycle including estimating, analysis, design, testing, implementation, user support and documentation.
Position Responsibilities and Expected Outcomes:
This position is responsible for participating in the creation and implementation of a technology framework and providing strong technical expertise to application development teams and senior technology management.
Responsible for being a technical expert, innovator, and strategic thought leader for technology engineering discipline such as applications, micro-services, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies.
Maintains knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations and/or provide a competitive advantage to the organization. Knowledge and experience applying key technology advancements such as Cloud & Big Data, Graph Technology, and/or AI/Machine Learning.
Translates advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions.
Develops standards and best practices for engineering complex, large-scale technology solutions to address highly complex and typically cross-organizational issues in the Compliance area, while maintaining broad knowledge of other technology engineering disciplines and partnering with other key experts.
May represent Wells Fargo to external industry groups, influencing industry standards.
Provides expert counsel to senior technology leadership and advises and mentors others with the goal of knowledge transfer.

2+ years of experience with Big Data or Hadoop tools such as Spark, Hive, Kafka and Map
A Masters degree or higher in computer science or finance
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
10+ years of Java or Python experience
7+ years of compliance and regulatory systems experience
5+ years of Big Data experience
5+ years of ETL, data warehouse and data analytics delivery experience on internal or external cloud platforms
3+ years of experience with design, implementation and governance experience with Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing or Machine Learning architecture
Experience in one or a combination of the following: Cloud Foundry or Kubernetes
Must have knowledge of the latest technology and industry practices in Compliance, preferably Financial Crimes.
