The Impact You'll Make in this Role The person hired for this position within 3M's Separation and Purification Sciences Division will drive product stewardship, regulatory and safety excellence by developing and executing regulatory, product stewardship, life cycle and risk management expertise and leadership to ensure products are compliant, safe and sustainable to enable growth and protect 3M brand. Here, you will make an impact by: - Developing and executing global regulatory and product stewardship expertise to support our various separation and purification products and markets including industrial, food and beverage, biopharmaceutical manufacturing and residential and food service drinking water applications.
- Developing, leading, and executing regulatory and product stewardship strategies to enable the business to meet its growth initiatives including protecting and growing existing product businesses and supporting new product, technology and market commercialization programs and activities.
- Collaborating with cross-functional global teams to develop, lead and execute global regulatory compliance, product stewardship and risk management strategies and activities for existing and new products and regulations.
- Identifying, assessing and communicating product safety risks through leading and executing life cycle assessments, participating in product risk assessments, and providing guidance and direction for business product quality and commercialization management processes such as claims substantiation, design control, and literature and label content review and input.
- Ensuring product risks are effectively communicated, understood, and mitigated to acceptable levels through effective communication and documentation processes.
- Providing regulatory intelligence by monitoring changing regulations, assessing impacts, and developing strategies as appropriate to influence and/or implement changing regulations for continued product compliance and safety excellence.
- Being a strategic leader and expert for the business in global drinking water contact regulations and certifications, global repeat-use food contact regulations, global chemical control laws, consumer product regulations, biocide regulations, the business's quality management processes as well as 3M's life cycle and materials management policies and processes
Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- Ten (10) years combined experience in product regulatory, environmental sciences, quality, or technical field in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: - Possess expertise equivalent to that which would be obtained in master's degree or higher
- Experience working in regulatory affairs, product stewardship, laboratory and/or quality
- Regulatory compliance experience in one or more of the following areas: regional and global article and chemical regulations including but not limited to TSCA, REACH, RoHS; conflict minerals, consumer product safety laws, hazard communication, biocide regulations, global food contact regulations and regulations impacting biopharmaceutical manufacturers such as FDA and USP
- Strong communication, project management and leadership skills working with global and cross-functional teams
- Experience with quality management systems including ISO 9001 and ISO 134875
- Experience executing regulatory and risk management strategies for new product commercialization and existing product changes
- Experience conducting product life cycle assessments and or product risk assessments
- Demonstrated risk-based decision-making skills
