The Role: Senior Director, Consulting

Grade 13

The Location: Hong Kong and Singapore

The Team: 451 Advisors is the consulting arm of 451 Research, which was acquired by S&P Global in 2019. 451 Advisors delivers bespoke market research and consulting projects to technology vendors, service providers, and investors - helping our clients use market research to make strategic decisions and engage their customers. The 451 Advisors team consists of experienced consultants who work with our Commercial team to qualify, scope, and win projects; and, then works with our subject matter expert analyst team to deliver projects.

The Impact: As a foundational member of the 451 Advisors team in APAC, you will be responsible for growing our consulting business in Asia - expanding beyond the handful of Asia clients we have today, and tapping into the tremendous opportunity we see in the technology sector in that region.

You will also be working with our world class analyst team, some of the top subject matter experts in the tech space. You'll also be in "on the ground floor" for our Asia consulting business and be well positioned to take on more responsibility as we grow the business, potentially building out a team in the region.

Responsibilities:
1. Business Development
  • Present capabilities
  • Qualify opportunities
  • Gather requirements
  • Define project scope
  • Map capabilities to internal and external resources
  • Estimate work effort
  • Price projects
  • Develop Statements of Work
  • Assist in negotiating and closing deals
2. Delivery
  • Gather requirements
  • Identify and assimilate existing research and data
  • Design and execute primary research programs
  • Analyze market data
  • Create and edit project deliverables
  • Present deliverables to clients
3. Management
  • Project management
    • Define and manage project schedules
    • Manage project resources (internal and external)
    • Client management
    • Set and manage client expectations
    • Gather and handle client feedback
  • Internal & external communication
    • Conduct project kickoffs
    • Schedule and guide project checkpoints and milestone meetings
    • Handle wrap-up and post-project communication
  • Internal communication
    • Attend weekly team calls
    • Participate in regular 1:1 calls with management
  • Track timesheets
4. Practice Development
  • Work with senior management team to advance practice strategy
  • Identify target market segments
  • Identify service offerings
  • Develop delivery methodologies
  • Define methodologies for service delivery
  • Create tools, templates
  • Train delivery personnel
  • Sales & marketing
  • Develop lead gen & marketing strategy
  • Develop marketing collateral
  • Work with management team to refine sales process
  • Train sales team
Measurement:
1. Sales target (closed sales)
2. Delivery target (delivered revenue)

What We're Looking For:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in the market research industry
  • Knowledge of the information technology industry
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and win project-oriented consulting business
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects involving multiple client stakeholders and multiple internal and external resources
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Residency and permitted to work in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, or Taiwan
  • Fluent in English
  • Working knowledge of Mandarin preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
