General Overview The Absence Management Program Manager is responsible for managing our US Absence Management Program and associated initiatives offered nationally to our 78,000 employees across 17 institutions with multiple benefit programs. With oversight of the Health and Welfare Benefit Manager, you will manage all aspects of our benefit program from design to communications to metrics, manage large vendor relationships, develop integrated strategies, partner with business stakeholders on key initiatives, monitor industry trends and developments to assess applicability to Mass General Brigham. You will work closely with your fellow colleagues on the Benefits Center of Excellence team as well as partner closely with HR Support Center and Leave of Absence team. The individual will conduct projects with little guidance and informally manage the work product of Benefit Specialists and Analysts. The Program Managers in the Benefits COE have direct areas of responsibility, and also collaborate as part of a broader team of benefits experts to support with overall strategy, analysis and monitoring of benefit programs as directed by the H&W Benefits Manager and the Senior Director of Benefits. Principal Duties and Responsibilities • Develop, execute and manage short and long term strategy for Non-Occupational Leave programs (Short term disability, Long term disability, Leaves) and Time Away programs (holiday, vacation, sabbatical, sick) • Support employee escalations related to non-occupational leave programs • Oversee strategic and day-to-day program and vendor management for absence management programs. Manage vendors with respect to service, delivery, communications, key performance measures, procurements, rate/fee negotiation, and optimization • Serve as a lead project manager and day to day contact for cross-departmental teams across absence-related projects and ensuring progress against established objectives, timelines, quality, and deliverables (if applicable) • Participate in general absence management program initiatives including but not limited to: attending industry conferences, analyzing emerging trends and applicability to Mass General Brigham, recommending pilot opportunities • Manage, in partnership with HR Operations and Leave of Absence team, all compliance activities and communications related to changes in state leave legislation and disability regulations • Apply understanding of compliance topics to program work, especially as it relates to Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave • Operate in a fluid and matrixed environment • Participate in other projects and initiatives as needed. Qualifications Qualifications Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor's degree • Six (6) or more years of experience working with Employee Benefits Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Health Management or other related field. • Eight (8) or more years of experience working with Employee Benefits, or seven (7) or more years of Employee Health & Welfare consulting experience • Two (2) or more years of experience specializing in absence & disability management • Familiarity with state leave legislation, particularly Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave • CEBS Certified • Experience with insured and self-insured disability plans Skills/Abilities/Competencies • Strong vendor / project management skills to coordinate and manage required projects • Strong communication skills and an ability to build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams • Ability to meet deadlines and handle potentially highly stressful situations. • Demonstrated strategic partner, with sound technical and analytical skills, good judgment, and a strong operational and strategic focus • Experience working within a matrix environment with a high level of collaboration and partnership • Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities to independently resolve a variety of complex issues • Flexibility and proven ability to identify and resolve issues • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel and Powerpoint EEO Statement Mass General Brigham is an Equal Opportunity Employer & by embracing diverse skills, perspectives and ideas, we choose to lead.
