Hoxworth Blood Center is seeking an Inventory Control Specialist 2-9 to maintain an extensive inventory of blood and blood components stored at Hoxworth Blood Center for distribution to customers serviced by Hoxworth. This position shall receive telephone orders for components, receive orders via the internet, and select appropriate components for packaging and shipping of the orders. This position will facilitate the transport of or perform the delivery of the components ordered, meet the delivery time frames specified by the customer, ensure the quality control of components transported to hospitals and received from other blood donor centers, provide excellent customer service to customers, and perform component inventory reconciliation and critical storage unit inventory control. Additional duties may include red cell filtration, segmenting, electronic component modification, and labeling.
The candidate must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, have a critical understanding of first in, first out (FIFO) rotation of perishable inventories, be computer literate, be able to follow standard operating procedures, and adhere to federal, state, and local government laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines.
The ideal candidate must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record to perform the delivery of components when needed and be able to work a flexible schedule that will include working weekends and holidays. Desired competencies include effective communication skills, initiative, teamwork, and customer service.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalency and at least 18 months of inventory control experience.
