Data Management and Insights (DMI) is transforming the way that Wells Fargo uses and manages data. The team is responsible for designing the future data environment, defining data governance and oversight, and partnering with technology to operate the data infrastructure for the company. This team also provides next generation analytic insights to drive business strategies and help meet our commitment to satisfy our customers' financial needs.
The EDL Principal with report to the Head of Enterprise Data Lake Management and partner with key Data Management & Insights (DMI) and Wells Fargo Technology (WFT) stakeholders to understand their respective strategic agendas. The Principal will be accountable for guiding the development of data products and solutions that align with the DMI Architecture, WFT Architecture standards and guidance in a pragmatic and expedient manner.
The Data Principal will drive consistency in design and delivery of conformed and curated datasets in alignment with Wells Fargo enterprise data management strategy and data domain concept, and is accountable for defining business requirements and data model across data domains, leveraging a prioritized approach (i.e., regulatory/risk reporting, customer relationship management, fraud, digital on-boarding).
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Aligns and brokers agreement across executives and leaders across a federated development and delivery model for data solutions across Wells Fargo toward enterprise-level consistency and usability.
Understands data and analytic needs and translates them to the impact on data sourcing, conformance, curation and consumption across company-wide data domains, governance compliance/requirements, and industry best practices.
Drives alignment to standard architecture patterns and design standards and leads resolution of gaps and definition needed to make these actionable and scalable.
Elevates ground-level design challenges across federated development and delivery teams for best practices, guidance and standards development.
Leads the development of common practices for multi-domain ingestions, conformance and curation and pragmatic governance approaches.
Assesses logical and physical Data Models across data domains and identifies actionable remediation to ensure multi-domain data curation efficiency and alignment with Big Data leading practices.
10+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: data management, data governance, data quality or data analysis
2+ years of academic research experience
2+ years of communication experience in one or a combination of the following: facilitating technical conferences, publishing articles, or delivering tailored presentations
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to motivate a team and lead strategic initiatives, collaborating across a large organization and multi-tasking as required
Experience articulating a complex problem, design, or build strategy
Leadership skills including the ability to influence effectively in a matrix environment
Other Desired Qualifications
Experience with Banking Finance, Risk/Regulatory Reporting, fraud, customer onboarding, and CRM technologies/platforms
Strong knowledge and understanding of Big Data concepts, data warehousing, and data modeling
Ability to synthesize data to present information to senior level management
Ability to work effectively at all levels in an organization
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
