General Summary/Overview Statement
The Clinical Business Analyst reports to the Epic Clinical Applications Manager and is responsible for providing end user support, eliciting business requirements and working with the system build teams to implement enhancements and improvements to the Epic end user community. This role will also have responsibilities of facilitating system changes, executing user acceptance testing, and supporting Clinical IT and Health Information Systems initiatives and applications for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). This role will also lead small to large scale projects.
The position entails IT support and working closely with the DFCI user community and Partners eCare (PeC) to support and evaluate workflow process with software configuration, design and implementation for the Epic system. A working knowledge of SDLC, Network/Technical basics, and software interfaces will benefit the candidate. Principle Duties and Responsibilities
• Support and educate end users with Epic clinical and complementary applications • Answer end user "how-to" functional questions and provide clarity within their workflow • Document and analyze business processes and help drive business process improvement workflows • Understand user requirements; translate them to functional requirements and assist end user with Epic request submissions • Help identify and resolve issues, and facilitate appropriate escalation for timely resolution • Assist with developing and executing user acceptance testing plans including creation of test cases • Participate in regular team meetings to discuss team and project/program related activities, issues, changes, and communications as needed • Provide service to users, according to the defined service level agreements and use service operations tools appropriately to provide updates and track status • Adhere to recognized project management tools and methodologies • Provide appropriate and timely problem escalation reporting (and potential solutions if applicable) to both IS management and clinic operations and leadership • Assist in identifying and recommending best practices for business analysis, training and end user support functions • Lead projects of small to large size following the project management methodology and standard process and tools within the organization/department • Communicate status on various project/program efforts and priority issues to leadership, internal stakeholders and manage expectations • Analyze business processes to ensure accurate system configuration • Work with the reporting teams to identify proper specifications for appropriate report configuration. Also work with end users to help create and run reports out Epic • Manage upgrades and testing for assigned Epic applications and complementary applications • Work effectively and systematically across IS and business units on tasks, issue resolution and projects • Establish and maintain relationships with software vendors and manage maintenance or new requests contracts • Manage, maintain and track maintenance and system requirements of specified applications • Aid in helping cross-train areas of expertise to the team and mentor new staff on team processes and application or workflow knowledge • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Information Systems, Business, Healthcare Management, Public Health or a related field required * Must have 5 years of healthcare IT experience with a knowledge of clinical systems * A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements * Experience with Epic Ambulatory and/or Beacon applications preferred * Experience providing customer and/or end user support, preferably in a healthcare setting preferred * Exposure to mobile applications and mobile devices a plus Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required

* Office environment with some local travel between DFCI and Partners offices * Some travel to patient care areas; limited patient contact * Must be able to provide adequate transportation between work locations * Participation in rotation for on-call support as assigned (may include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays) * As projects and priorities dictate, must be available to work occasional non-standard hours such as evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
* No direct reports; may provide guidance and mentoring to less seasoned and new staff
