Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk.
Independent Consumer Credit Risk Management provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, this group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.
Small Business Lending/Personal Lending Group (SBL/PLG) Consumer Credit Risk Management team is seeking a self-starter, detailed oriented leader with credit risk governance experience, strong communication skills and innate organizational skills.
This position is responsible for the development, establishment, maintenance, and oversight of a variety of SBL/PLG credit policies, procedures, governance programs and commensurate controls to appropriately manage SBL/PLG credit risk, help achieve business goals, improve customer experience, and gain efficiencies in credit risk governance activities. To provide effective oversight of SBL governance programs, the preferred candidate will be able to work effectively with line of business and support functions, understanding and critically evaluating programs and controls, exercising credible challenge when appropriate, and ensuring a proactive approach to identifying future and/or potential risk events.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Support the development, implementation and execution of credit risk governance programs designed to identify and mitigate existing and/or emerging credit risks.
Work with and influence senior credit and business leaders to develop appropriate governance programs.
Be responsible for the planning and execution of strategic activities and projects.
Demonstrate overall improvements and oversight in the effective management and enhancement of controls to ensure protection from regulatory, compliance and audit risk.
Develop and present reports and status information to senior risk managers and senior risk officers.
Serve as a credit risk governance subject matter expert who advises credit and business leaders.
Manage multiple tasks, with varying timelines and strategic importance, in an effective and efficient manner.
Partner with key stakeholders to build consensus and drive timely completion of requirements.
Provide value added credible challenge
The candidate also maintains knowledge of industry events, regulatory requirements, emerging risks, and other relevant subject matter, which requires close relationship management with both business partners and their peers in the risk community.
This is a vital and dynamic role to the team, with exposure to all Credit Risk Management lifecycle stages and their supporting activities, as well as different levels of the organization's leadership. Candidates should be self-assured, curious, comfortable providing credible challenge, and willing to ask questions to help create best in class solutions.
5+ years of experience in risk role
A BS/BA degree or higher
Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) skills
Other Desired Qualifications
Experience in a Credit Risk Governance role
Virtual leadership experience with ability to effectively drive results, provide feedback/direction, and manage and build relationships with leaders and team members in a geographically dispersed team environment
Demonstrable extraordinary organizational skills and extremely detail-oriented
Poses persuasive communication skills, both written and verbal with experience in articulating issues, risks, and proposed solutions, presentation of executive-level presentations and effectively challenging leadership.
Strong business knowledge of Consumer and Small Business Lending, and Credit Risk.
Demonstrable influencing and collaboration skills with experience articulating issues, risks, and proposed solutions to all organizational levels
Ability to deliver multiple concurrent projects and/or large scale individual projects
Proven ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
Experience drafting and maintaining credit policy, and governance program documentation
Self-starter with tenacious follow-up skills
Ability to proactively manage and mitigate issues
