The Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools (NYU Metro Center) at New York University seeks a Fiscal/Administrative Manager for three internal units: Policy, Research, and Evaluation (PRE), the Center for Strategic Solutions (CSS), and the Education Justice Research and Organizing Collaborative (EJ-ROC). Candidates should be familiar with the education equity and social justice issues central to NYU Metro Center's mission, and should operate from an assets-based framework. Candidates should have working experience in a multiethnic, multicultural environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates diversity and differences. Candidates should have a strong foundation in accounting, budget management, finance, operations management, and grant processing.
The position's tasks include grants and contracts budgeting, review and reporting, as well as management of a diverse portfolio of government, private, public, and internal grants and contracts of varied complexity. Specific tasks involve grants management and oversight, event planning and supervising large conferences and seminars, managing each unit's hiring processes, overseeing all invoicing and student pay arrangements, managing all grants-related travel and reimbursements, overseeing all budget reporting requirements, and assuring that all grants' administration complies with the rules and regulations established by both the sponsor agency and the University, in coordination with the Manager of Grants.
Candidate should have the following specific capacities:
At least 3 years of relevant experience in a combination of finance, budgeting/accounting, and administration
A bachelor's degree or higher in finance, accounting, or an equivalent field
Excellent organizational, managerial, and communication skills
Strong written and verbal communications skills
High-level computer skills including experience with varieties of fiscal software and tools, use of spreadsheets, and familiarity with various fiscal management systems
