The United States Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, seeks to fill the position of Chair of Strategic Leadership with an annual salary between $126,614 and $156,872. This is a full time civilian faculty position at the US Army's most senior institution for professional military education. The Army War College educates the top echelon of US military officers of all services, US government civilians, and military officers from scores of foreign countries. It develops strategic leaders by providing a rigorous curriculum of theoretical and professional subjects, leading to a Master's of Strategic Studies accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
This is a Title 10 civilian faculty position that reports directly to the Provost. While the initial contract is two years, with a one-year review, it is the intent of the USAWC for this to be a long term faculty position. Reappointments may be renewed in one-to five-year increments, subject to job performance and availability of funding. Academic rank and salary will be based on the selectee's academic credentials, experience, and professional accomplishments.
Engaging in outreach; attending scholarly conferences; connecting and developing relationships with academic, civilian, and military institutions.
Develop and maintain a research agenda that relates to strategic leadership and organization effectiveness.
Lead collaborative research projects at the AWC or on behalf of the Army when appropriate.
Counsel U.S. Army War College leaders on curricular issues.
