Job Summary: The Large Bank and Insurance supervisory function focuses on ensuring the safety and soundness of our largest financial institutions and the fair and equitable treatment of consumers. Through periodic onsite evaluations and offsite continuous monitoring, this function plays a critical role in ensuring financial institutions comply with laws and regulations, are in sound financial condition and utilize sound practices to mitigate their risks.
We are seeking an Examiner/Senior Examiner to join our supervisory team that oversees a large and complex banking organization. The position is responsible for executing a supervisory plan of examinations and continuous monitoring activities that assesses the adequacy of the firms risk governance and risk management practices. This includes the evaluation of the institutions loan portfolios, enterprise risk management framework, controls, reporting, and information systems, and other responsibilities.
As a member of the supervisory team, you will lead and/or participate in various targeted examinations. Through technical knowledge and the ability to influence the actions of others, you will be responsible for influencing the desired actions on the part of firm management as well as establishing ongoing and effective relationships with senior management of the firm.
Principal Responsibilities: Participates and serves effectively as an ExaminerInCharge (EIC) in moderately complex roles to ensure the successful completion of an examination including the assessment of an institutions overall condition, risk management systems, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Performs continuous monitoring. Evaluates the effectiveness of management and is successful in influencing its actions through strong relationship management and interpersonal skills and effective negotiation and conflict resolution. Effective in achieving supervisory goals, including obtaining possible changes to operating policies or practices, while maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders. Produces adhoc analyses and contributes to key portions of supervisory products, including risk assessments and ratings. Maintains a broad knowledge of emerging issues and ongoing developments pertaining to the supervision of financial institutions through participation in local meetings, Federal Reserve System conferences, or Reserve Bank and System task forces or committees. Provides expert commentary on proposed changes to supervisory policies and procedures.
Key Competencies: Generally proficient understanding of supervisory processes, banking processes, and products; generally proficient knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; understands the interrelationship of banking risks; begins to apply an integrated risk management approach unsupervised, identifies and differentiates between critical and noncritical supervisory issues. Demonstrates strong judgment and wellreasoned decision making in a wide array of situations that may involve complex issues, public scrutiny, and market reactions. Demonstrates strong communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively deliver supervisory findings and concerns. Conducts meetings with senior management of supervised institution.
Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge and experience normally acquired through, or equivalent to, the completion of a Master's degree and a minimum of 35 years of related job experience. Commissioning from Board of Governors is required. Ability to travel up to 25% is required.
This position requires access to confidential supervisory information, access to which is limited to "Protected Individuals" as defined by regulation of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.
