The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Office of Research Administration (ORA) in the Division of Research, Economic Development, and Engagement. This requires a high level of professional skill and knowledge regarding the programs, services, and policies and procedures within ORA and the Division. The individual in this position will apply this knowledge in the performance of daily/routine duties and be able to interpret and explain information to internal and external associates in a professional manner. The direction of this positions duties is guided primarily by the needs of the AVC for Research Administration and Finance and the Senior Associate Director of ORA. These individuals rely heavily on this position for managing the daily routine of the office. Duties include, but are not limited to: managing the ORA email inbox; file management for grants and contracts; managing subcontract invoices and PORT requisitions requiring grants approval, processing IDTs and scanning documents into Xtender for grant funds; calendar and meeting management; ensuring deadlines/commitments are met; preparing memoranda, letters, reports and other professional communication; and general administrative support such as processing incoming/outgoing mail, purchasing, travel, and special project coordination.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Economic Development and Engagement (REDE) is responsible for research policy and integrity, research administration and contract negotiations across ECU for both the main campus and the health sciences campus. The division directs new intellectual enterprises, including technology transfer. Industry, military and government agency research partnerships and community engagement and economic development activities across the eastern half of North Carolina are also managed by the division.
