Kendal at Lexington is a not-for-profit Life Plan Community located just one mile from Main Street in Lexington, Virginia. Nestled in the Shenandoah Valley, the campus sits on 85 acres of rolling farmland with panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and colors changing throughout the four seasons.
With 119 independent living units ranging in size from studio apartments to spacious two-bedroom cottages, the community also features the Webster Assisted Living apartments and Benjamin Borden Health Care Center directly on campus. Kendal at Lexington is currently in the final stages of completing a $40 million expansion and renovation project associated with the construction of 30 new independent living cottages, as well as a major renovation and repositioning of both the Borden Health Center and the Webster Assisted Living facility.
Kendal at Lexington is an integral part of the larger Kendal System, which includes The Kendal Corporation and 13 Kendal affiliates. First established more than 40 years ago to serve older adults, Kendal represents one of the nation's most highly regarded, nonprofit networks of senior housing communities, programs and services.
Among the distinctive attributes of Kendal is its “federated” organizational structure, which provides every Kendal affiliate with the ability to enjoy the benefits of independence and market leadership. Each Kendal affiliate is incorporated as a separate 501(c)(3) organization governed by its own board, while at the same time allowing for the additional positive advantages derived from operational scale and a sustained reputation for leadership across the entire field of aging services.
The Executive Director provides vision, strategic direction, fiscal oversight and leadership in the fulfillment of the community’s mission and vision. S/he leads the management team, and is a member of Kendal’s Affiliate Leadership team, which includes the President and senior staff of The Kendal Corporation and the Executive Directors of each of the Kendal affiliate communities.
